The addiction crisis is at an epidemic stage. Over half of all American adults have a personal family history of problem drinking or drug addiction and nearly 10% of all employed workers currently struggle with a substance abuse disorder. That’s one out of ten employees, possibly someone in the very same workplace you either work in or own.
Doug Kiker and Dan Schmalen, who have been in “successful recovery" for years and are successful employers themselves, are starting a new, first-of-its-kind website (RetrofitCareers.com), providing people in successful recovery with a dire t link to jobs posted by employers who will proactively consider and hire many employees from this valuable job pool.
We know that restoring self-esteem is a major component of successful recovery. We know there are businesses and employers across many industries looking and willing to hire people in successful recovery. We know people in successful recovery make great employees…they are truly more grateful for a second chance, and as a result, are more motivated, dedicated, dependable and usually are more creative and smarter than an average employee.
We know our new RetrofitCareers website will help lots of people stay and live the rest of their lives in successful recovery. We know that in addition to being responsible, businesses everywhere will reap many rewards from hiring employees from this incredibly valuable job pool.
As with any new business, it takes money. Money to build a successful team from across many fields and disciplines, create, maintain and grow a new website, get the-word-out to attract both job candidates in successful recovery and businesses who will try and use us as an important hiring resource…now and far into the future.
But we need your help. We have limited personal resources. We are not wealthy. We are not seeking government funds or grants. We are just two grateful Philly guys in successful recovery ourselves with a BIG idea for a business that’s important, needed…the right thing to do.
