Ivan's Road to Recovery

Ivan is a spunky 2 year old who loves trucks.
He was born with a condition called Posterior Urethral Valves which caused his kidneys and bladder to back up and not work properly. He was born at Children's Hospital of Minneapolis and went into surgery soon after birth to correct part of his urinary system. He has frequent follow-ups with his care team there to monitor the health of his kidneys and bladder.
On July 20th, 2017 Ivan had a routine ultrasound to check kidney function. His results showed a new mass on his left kidney. One week later he underwent surgery to remove the mass. The results were life changing. Ivan had a Wilms Tumor. Cancer. Stage 3.
Ivan is about halfway through his course of treatment at Children's Hospital of Minneapolis, which includes radiation and chemo, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and orthopedic footwear, that Ivan affectionately calls his 'Power Boots'.
In order to provide the care that Ivan needs during his treatment and recovery, his mom, Ariel, has taken a leave of absence from her position as a high school teacher at Sartell HS. Ivan's dad, Adam, works for a great company that has been very accommodating so he is also able to come with to many of the treatment visits.
We are raising money to help offset the pinch felt by becoming a single income family while incurring all of the medical and unexpected expenses that come along with a cancer treatment journey.
