A documentary on distracted driving

Donation protected

Distracted driving has become an epidemic on our roads. If you spend any time at all driving, it will take you only a few minutes to realize that you're literally a target by people who aren't giving their full attention to their driving. Even pedestrians are at risk.

My name is Jim Bugg and I'm a victim of a distracted driver. I know first hand what it means to suffer from the selfish actions of someone who felt they didn't need to keep their eyes on the road and their full attention to driving their vehicle. I know first hand how a distracted driver can affect an entire family.

GOAL
The goal for this documentary is to produce a professional, full-length feature for theatrical release. We want to reach as many people with this message. We're also connecting with large companies whose main function is to educate drivers, both young and old.

This documentary will not simply be a regurgitation of stats about distracted driving. The intention is to be real and show real stories of how people have had their lives changed. There are many creative ideas we have to bring the reality of distracted driving actions to light.

Distracted driving comes in various forms: smartphones while driving, pets on your lap while driving, crying kids, drinking coffee and smoking while driving, applying make-up while driving, road rage... the list goes on.

Creating a documentary obviously takes time and resources to complete. From pre-production, filming, gear rental to editing, there are many aspects of putting together a professional production that I hope can speak to those who are distracted drivers and raise awareness in young and older people alike about how their actions can hurt others. We're raising these funds in order to produce this documentary with the hopes of showing it in schools and drivers education classes. Major automobile insurance companies may also be interested in having this as part of their marketing collateral.

The money raised through this avenue will be used for production and marketing. We want to get the message out once the documentary is complete, and traditional and digital marketing will be big factors in success of this campaign.

TEAM
This documentary has been a labor of love for our team. Filmaker Ken Danyluk has a vision of the end product as he, too, has a passion for getting this documentary made to reach the masses. As a team, we feel it's important to get the message out that it's simply not 'ok' to not pay attention when you're driving. It's not 'ok' to be a distracted driver.

Thank you in advance for any support you are able to offer. The making of this documentary has been on my heart for almost 2 years now. If this film can help people reconsider their driving habits and perhaps even save lives, I will classify this as a success.
