Help Mary's Owner Yong Kim
On Tuesday, August 26th, 74-year old Yong Kim – propietor of the family-owned Mary's Fabulous Chicken & Fish on Packard Rd. in Ann Arbor - was brutally attacked in the parking lot after closing the restaurant. During the altercation, Mr. Kim suffered serious head and facial injuries. The assailant is still currently at large.

Mary's Fabulous Chicken & Fish has been a longtime favorite of the Ann Arbor community. In an effort to support their family business and medical expenses, please consider donating to Mr. Kim and his wife as they seek justice. Every dollar helps.
More About Me:
My name is Ben Alfaro. I'm a 24-year old Detroit resident originally from Ann Arbor. I grew up just down the street from Mary's Fabulous Chicken & Fish and grew up eating their food. Although I don't know the Kim family more than as a customer, I am part of the neighborhood they've worked for over the past 32 years.
The intention of this fundraiser is to financially support the Kim family in their time of need. Once the fundraiser formally ends, I plan to unveil a big check in the full amount to the family during business hours and include the names of all those who donated.
Once given, I imagine the funds will go to offset some of the costs inflicted during the incident, but also for them to use however they wish -- buying new equipment, going on a vacation, et cetera. This is as much an emergency support as it is a community saying Thank You for such a committed institution in the city of Ann Arbor.

Thank you all again for helping make this campaign a great success!
Please continue supporting Mary's Fabulous and other independent businesses.
You all are amazing.
That means in less than a week, we've doubled the fundraising goal. That's amazing! Mr. Kim is back on his feet and will be back to work soon. He knows about your continued support and I'm planning to deliver our total donation in the next week or so.
A sincere thank you to everyone who helped this effort. Let's keep contributing what we can.
Thank you all so much for helping this cause and thinking of our neighbors in a time of need.
When I started this page, I put down a goal of $1,500 as a long shot target. You all have proven that our community is still as thoughtful, enduring, and supportive as ever. A special thank you to Ian Thibodeau for featuring this fundraiser on MLive.
If you haven't kept up with what's been happening, two young men have been identified as suspects for the assault last week. You can stay in the loop with MLive for updates on Mr. Kim and his recovery moving forward.
Lastly, as exciting it is to see we've topped $2,000, I'm convinced as a community we can pull together our resources for additional support. The damage done is far more severe than any dollar amount, so please consider sharing this link to your friends and colleagues. We need to take care of one another.
Thank you all again for your selfless response to this difficult circumstance. I'm truly honored to call this town my home.
