Dorothy Baca-Martinez is a mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend to many people who know and love her.
She is also a fighter!
As many of you know, Dorothy was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in August 2015. Unfortunately she and her family are no strangers to this form of cancer. Since the discovery she has undergone two rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. With the love and support of her family, friends, acquaintances and well-wishers, she has battled this cancer with all of her heart and soul. It has been the toughest physical and emotional time in Dorothy and her family's lives.

Through the past seven months, Dorothy has prayed for one thing and one thing only... for God to give her "a chance." She prayed daily for the opportunity to see her son marry in August and of course she prayed to see her grandchildren, Jake and Sway grow. Her prayer was to have a doctor perform surgery in an attempt to remove the cancerous tumor.

God has given her "a chance."

After receiving the news that a local surgeon was unwilling to perform surgery, Dorothy submitted her information and all test results to the MAYO Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, understanding there are a few surgeons that have performed successful pancreatic tumor removals.
Within one week, Dr. Michael Farnell personally called Dorothy and said he and his team are willing to perform the surgery she has been praying for!

With the assistance of amazing insurances and personal struggle, Dorothy and her family have covered all of her medical expenses to date.
The out of state, and out of network surgery will take place in Minnesota on Thursday April 14th. Dorothy and her family will be traveling to Minnesota and will stay for a total of 6 weeks, as the Doctor would like to keep her close during recovery.

Many family, friends and acquaintances have asked how they can help Dorothy through these difficult months... now there is a way!
Although Dorothy did not want any monetary assistance, only prayer, we, her family, believe that she will have peace of mind knowing her future expenses are covered. She can then focus on her recovery.
The money raised through this page will cover her travel expenses, housing and the out of pocket surgery cost.
