Erinn has recently been diagnosed with an  aggressive cancer which has now metastasized. She’s fighting for her life and trying to spend as much time as possible with her gorgeous little man who will be turning 3 in March.

We are collecting donations in an effort to alleviate any any financial stresses on her family during this difficult time…. and possibly set up a meal delivery service for the home.

Hi everyone; Dave Knight here. It's been a hell of a ride, and - it's also just been hell, but my son and I are getting through it pretty well.

In the past couple of weeks, the little guy has improved dramatically; he's really starting to come out of his shell, and it's SO good to see it. He had become quite withdrawn, and he cut off contact with so many people after we lost our girl, but - lately he's been having fun with his friends, playing at the park, swimming in the neighbours pool, and generally just being delightful. He is slowly reconnecting with all the people he used to have fun with, and I haven't seen him this happy in quite some time. He's such a great little man, and he really deserves to feel good again. Now he's finally getting what he deserves, and it's warming my heart like nothing else could.

So I just wanted to give you all an update to say that we're doing okay, and to put out a very very big THANK YOU to all the people who have made donations to this campaign. It had never occurred to me that we might need one, but my beloved friends Steve and Carol set this up when Erinn was very sick, and the money that came in was extremely helpful, because we didn't have much to work with. Your support has been astonishing, and I don't have the words or the time to thank you all individually. But your help made a serious difference in our lives.

When everything else was so hard, we didn't have to worry about money. And the days that weren't hard, Erinn was able to do the things she wanted: mostly buying useful and cute things for our son. That's what made her happy, and - as silly as it sounds to buy things to create happiness, it really helped. It made her happy, in times when there was little else to feel good about. And the things she bought him, he still enjoys today - and will for years to come.

Then, after we lost her, I converted this campaign into a fund for the little guy's education. So all the donations made since somewhere around mid-April have been going into an RESP for him, and the results have been impressive. I haven't tallied it all up yet, but somewhere between three and four thousand dollars have been raised for his education. By the time he's at an age where he needs tuition, it will have been some 16 years and it will have grown to be a pretty serious amount of money. It's not easy for me to find words to express how grateful I am to all of you for making that happen. We're not broke, and we're surviving well, but still - future tuition for this boy was nowhere on my radar. Now it is. And I will continue to build on it where I can.

I can't thank you all enough for this. So many good people. So much love. The horrors of reality have been offset by the kindness of the people around us in ways that I did not expect. The world can be pretty rough, but - people can be pretty amazing. I have been inspired by the love and generosity that friends and strangers alike have shown my wife and my family... both here, and in a million other ways as well.

Thank you all; and thank you again. I'm sorry you had to see this happen. I wish it hadn't. I would do anything to make things turn out differently, but like she always said - it is what it is.

We will miss her forever. The world became a little less bright the day that she left it, and we all mourn her loss. She sure broke a lot of people's hearts when she went. But we will make her proud, I promise that.

Hugs to you all. I love you people.

Erinn passed away, surrounded by her loving parents and husband Dave, in the early morning of April 11 at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice in Kanata. She was comfortable there and was accompanied by her husband for the duration of her stay. Her suffering was minimal. She was at peace with what was happening and was enjoying a desperately needed sleep under sedation when her disease finally caught up with her. Dave and the "little man" Jameson are heartbroken but surrounded by love and support from devoted family and friends. She and her husband are eternally grateful for the crucial support provided by their parents, families, and friends through such a difficult time. Erinn requested that her loved ones enjoy a celebration of life, instead of a funeral. Plans for the celebration are in progress. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in her memory to Hospice Care Ottawa; she and her family are inspired by the care, support, and beauty at the Ruddy-Shenkman facility. Alternatively, donations can also be made to young Jameson's education savings plan, either through the family or through this GoFundMe campaign. Updates about the upcoming celebration will be made at her blog at https://metastaticme.wordpress.com and you are all encouraged to enter your email address in the sidebar of the blog, to be automatically notified when announcements are made. Love and hugs to you all.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Here I was thinking this campaign was winding down, only to see that as of this afternoon your generosity has taken us to nearly double our original target.

Erinn and Dave are now back home and are enjoying some well-deserved family time with Jameson. Erinn is thankful to be home, and to continue this journey from a more comfortable space.

My deepest thanks to each of you for your incredible support. The impact of your donations is immeasurable, and goes far beyond just the financial side. The most meaningful part is seeing how far reaching and genuine your love is for this amazing woman.

As Dave said earlier, you guys truly are "tops".

Holy smokes people! Look what you went and did! Your generosity and support have surpassed all expectations we had for this fundraiser. In a little over 24 hours, your donations made quick work of our $5,000 goal, and they just keep coming.

Erinn and Dave are still hopeful to make it back home today and to settle into a more normal routine. As Dave expressed yesterday, the support you all have given has been truly overwhelming. They send their deepest thanks to each of you.

Again, thank you so much for your loving messages and generosity in blowing past our original goal. You guys are incredible!
