Funeral expenses for Dominiq

Dear friends,

Following up on some of our initial posts on Facebook, which I realize have not been super informative, I met with my sister last night to discuss some of the heart-wrenching next steps for her to consider.  Unfortunately at the top of that list are funeral plans and logistics.

Dominiq was my sister's only child, my parents' first grandchild and my first nephew, but we never imagined he'd be the first to leave us.  He grew up in Virginia, and his father lives in Texas, so after he graduated high school, decided to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio.

We learned that while he was wakeboarding in a lake in Texas, to celebrate the last holiday weekend before his junior year, there was an accident that ultimately took his life.

So many of you have been gracious in your responses and expressing your love through thoughts and prayers for my sister, so thank you for that and please continue to pray.  I'm passing along your sympathies as I'm able to do so.  And like so many of you, I feel a great sense of helplessness as my sister, her husband and Dominiq's father navigate these deepest and darkest of waters.  So many people have asked "what can I do?"

The one things that's come up for sure, is the EXORBITANT cost to be able to take care of the typical cost of everything, not to mention the cost of getting him back to Virginia so that she can even have a funeral.  It breaks my heart to hear her consider undesirable options because of the cost, so if you would like to donate to help ease that burden, I would appreciate it so very much but please don't feel obligated.  Give only if you're able, and if it's from your heart.
