Domestic Violence Survivor & Pets

Donation protected
As her volunteer domestic violence advocate, I am asking for assistance in keeping my client “Jane” from returning to homelessness. Jane and her two emotional support dogs have been through a lot and have conquered many obstacles. The obstacle they now face will return them to homelessness without help.

As a survivor of domestic violence and stalking Jane and her dogs lived in her vehicle and overnight shelters for two years. Through pure courage and grit, Jane was able to resume her professional career and rent an apartment. She has lived independently for three years, working full time plus overtime to make ends meet.  Her work is a helping profession, of which she is passionate.

Due to increasing rents, Jane moved into an even smaller unit at her building. At the same time, she suffered health crises resulting in hospitalizations and leaves of absence. She has most of her rent money but then the apartments hit her with  “fees” not previously disclosed, in  the amount of $800.  Trying to negotiate with the management has been to no avail.  She has reached out to agencies and has been unable to be assisted (as of yet).

Jane is going to be homeless again, if we cannot raise the remaining balance for November rent and hidden fees; a woman who survived, thrived, and gives back every day. A woman who is in very real danger without a home of her own.

Please help Jane and her two emotional support, dogs, stay housed. No amount is too small. She has been through too much to return to the streets where keeping a full time job and staying safe will be extraordinarily difficult.

Did you know, ‘Domestic violence is a leading cause of homelessness nationally.  One out of every four homeless women is homeless because of violence committed against her*.'

My name is Teri Ensley. Part of my give back to our greater community is volunteering my time as a personal advocate for women that flee domestic violence. Please feel free to search my reputation on the internet or email me to provide you with references.  I want you to be comfortable knowing that all donations will go directly to helping Jane and her two dogs stay in their home.  The $1,500 goal is broken down as follows:

1)      $800 in additional moving fees
2)      $300 remaining balance for November rent
3)      $400 as a buffer to ensure she can afford nutritious food for herself and her dogs as she gets back to work

BTW,…the photo is of Jane’s two dogs.  A photo of Jane cannot be posted.

Thank you for your kindness, consideration, and generosity.  Please feel free to share this post.

Best Regards,

Teri Ensley
