What a money grubbing scam! As a nurse, while those bruises look terrifying, they most likely have disappeared with no trace. Regardless, news reports corroborate child had no sustained injuries and if another child, another 5 year old, was involved, no crime was committed. The child herself was unable to identify anyone else and most likely fell off the slide. I wonder if the mother's picked out the car, yet, she's shooting for?

This is horrific. The school and the parents of the child /children who beat up this little girl should be sued. Kids who think it's ok to beat up people are not raised properly. The parents should be investigated. Kids on the playground should be supervised especially in the shitty world we live in today, and they were not!

There's no way the damages she incurred to her face was a result of a school yard accident. Hogwash!!!!! The district is lying. That little girl was beat up. #CoverUp

How is the child doing now? You should sue the school district for negligence of your child!

Lacey, please turn your medical bills in to the school district to pay. It is THEIR responsibility, not yours, when a child is injured on school property. I did not know this until after my son was injured at school and paid for it myself when he had a broken arm and had to have surgery on it. I found out well after the fact,, I could have turned it in and made the school pay for it. If they refuse, lawyer up! If the child was injured due to lack of supervision by another student, she may be entitled to a settlement for pain and suffering as well. They have a duty to keep our children safe. Accidents happen, but neglect is a different story. If this had happened at home child services would have you up on charges of neglect!

http://cityofpascagoula.com/police-department The Pascagoula Police Department has completed its investigation into the playground incident in which a five year-old girl was injured at Arlington Elementary School on August 26, 2014. The original report filed by the mother on August 28, 2014 alleges that her daughter had been kicked in the face by another kindergarten student. An assault on one 5 year-old by another 5 year-old is not considered a criminal act under Mississippi Law and therefore does not fall under the jurisdiction of the police department. However, over the weekend the police department opened a Welfare Concern investigation into the matter. Detectives interviewed the child’s family, her Pediatrician, school employees, and witnesses to the playground incident. Her medical records were reviewed and the Department of Human Services also became involved. It has been determined that the child was injured in a playground accident and that no criminal activity occurred. The Pascagoula Police Department has closed its criminal investigation into the incident

Since this issue happened over a week ago I see in recent pictures that the poor baby is healing but that doesn't reduce the fact that a 5 year old was let out on a playground without supervision???? What if this little girl went missing because she was kidnapped off the playground while there was no supervision??? What then? The injuries to this girls face were horrific and were done by someone and the police should be trying to find out who did it and follow through instead of closing the case. I would be furious with the school and the police and I would not rest until I got justice. You can bet your life your would hear me ROAR from coast to coast. This could happen again if someone isn't stopped. Stop complaining about this mom getting a pittance of money to cover costs like medicine and maybe even counseling. She is going to need as much help as she can get. Haters go somewhere else and complain.

School will not call ambulance or police. To help keep your child or children safe at their school, be visible. Eat lunch once a week with your child. Volunteer at their school. Chaperone on field trips. What happened to AvaLynn is despicable but the school will not do anything to the perpetrator even if they knew who it was.

I am very troubled by what has happened to you... I live in gulfport, ms and I don't know when or where but I know I have seen your beautiful little girl somewhere before... I would never forget that beautiful girl and her fiery red hair... I have a 3 year old starting head start in 4 days and I am terrified to let her go because of what happened to poor little AvaLynn... I am also writing the school and the news in hopes somehow you can get justice for your daughter and they will have more security and supervision for our kids when we cannot be there to do it ourselves... my heart goes out to you and your family

I am glad you reached your goal. I'm so sorry for what happened to yourbeautiful daughter and I hope she's feeling better now . She looks so small.....was this an older child that did this? I can not see another small child doing damage to this extent. I hope you get answers and whoever is responsible pays the consequences. If a child did this then that child needs some help. My thoughts and prayer for you, your daughter and your family.

This is soooo sad and heart breaking. This school system must be sued! A 5yr old child is viciously beaten by another 5yr old at school with no employee supervising the children when this happened. This incident probably has made AvaLynn afraid to attend any school. Talk about a cover-up. I would not have any age child of mine attending school in that school system. God, I pray you are with AvaLynn healing her body & mind. The child that hurt AvaLynn has some serious family issues. That child's parents & home life must be examined. There is something seriously wrong in that household.
