Doherty Gives Back!

On behalf of the Doherty Elementary Family, we are trying to raise money to give back to someone in need. Our custodian Andrea is in need of a car. We are trying to raise money to surprise her with this special gift. We will use the money to buy Andrea a car, gas cards, car insurance, and other supports.
About Andrea: Andrea is the custodian at Doherty Elementary School in West Bloomfield. She is the ultimate worker! Andrea has a positive attitude, is a hard worker, and loves kids. She often expresses how much she loves her job and truly is the backbone of our school. She is there hands down whenever anyone needs her, no questions asked. Her smile is contagious and is constantly checking in on us.
You never would know about Andrea's hardships or the obstacles that she faces because she is never without a smile. Andrea lives in Pontiac and has walked to school all year long, there and back. It is 9 miles which would be a 23 minute drive. Instead it takes her between 2-3 hours to walk there and 2-3 hours to walk home, depending on weather. Andrea has a 5 year old and a 6 year old at home. Instead of spending 4-6 hours trying to get to and from work, she could be spending that time with her family. Even though Andrea has not complained once about doing this, we want to do something special for someone in need who belongs to our Doherty Family.
