The Breaks in You and I

We are watching TV and it happens. It drops. All inside of me. I do not love you. In fact, I think you repulse me a bit. You know what triggered it? You farted. Right in that good bit in Being John Malkovich. And I know it seems like a little thing, but it becomes this whole big metaphor for our relationship. You, my darling wife, are dispersing your shit molecules all over the good bits of my life.

Chloe sleeps spread out like a starfish every night. Her life is full of yoga, wine and definitely not missing Joanna. Joanna hasn’t changed her pants in ten days, because she can’t work out how to use the washing machine. Oh, and she’s starting to suspect Chloe’s controlling her mind.  A grotesquely comic account of breaking up, amid fried chicken, conspiracy theories and a lot of alcohol.

Written by Lizzie Milton. Directed by Holly Robinson. Set design by Fié Neo. Starring Charlotte Merriam and Nina Shenkman.

Who? What? Why?

We are DogFaced Boy - a new theatre company dedicated to telling stories about women, by women, for everyone.

We are raising funds for our debut production The Breaks in You and I which is a heartbreaking, grotesque and hilarious account of two women breaking up.

In order to afford this we need £2000.

This might sound like a lot, but for a theatre production this is actually very cheap! Costs add up quickly.

Most of this money is going towards paying our cast & crew a fair wage. We believe it is important to pay our creatives for the time and talent they put into our projects.

We need:

£1650 to pay all our cast & crew a fair wage
£200 to pay for our set
£100 to pay for posters, flyers and business cards
£50 for transport costs

Our opening night is the 11th September, so we need the money by the 22nd August ready for rehearsals.

This money gives us the opportunity to start a new and exciting life at DogFaced Boy. It gives us the opportunity to tell a story where we put queer women front and centre. We hope this opportunity will allow us to tell more stories where we put marginalised women's voices front and centre stage.

Also our creative team will be very happy if they can pay their rent.

Any money you give, will earn you our eternal gratitude.
However if you donate: .

£5+ We will tweet you our personal thanks & another one in the programme!

£25+ You are cordially invited to our production after party (19th September 2016, location tbc) + all the above

We are halfway to our goal!

That is right. You lovely human beings have given us over £1000.

That is 88612.51 rupees
or 154215.17 Króna (Icelandic)
or 0.1 of a blimp

If we gave up on theatre today, with your donations alone we could buy 1/100th a blimp.

Thankfully we're not going to do that.

Thank you so much for your donations so far. Every single one is appreciated so much.

Remember, if you haven't donated you have TODAY to get into the programme. You can still donate after today, but our gratitude to you will not be immortalised in print.

You can buy tickets to the show here

We're about to go into rehearsals next week and are all very excited!

Much love,

You have ONE WEEK left to donate to get a special mention in our programme.

Donating as little as a fiver can get you a special printed thank you in our programme. However we go to print next week so if you don't get that donation in by NEXT FRIDAY you'll miss your chance.

If you do miss the deadline, you'll still get your tweet but you will have lost the opportunity to be immortalised in print.

If you have already donated, but think you have friends that might want to, please share it with them! We don't have long to go now!

So week two is over and done and we have raised £535 for the production so far.

The girls have done a first read through together and are busy beavering away at learning the lines before rehearsals start in a few weeks time.

Thank you so so much for everyone whose donated so far, but we still have a long way to go.

So please if you can afford even a fiver, do consider donating. If you can't afford it if you can share our campaign on twitter or facebook, that would be amazing.

Much love,
Dogfaced Boy

Week 1 is done!

In 1 week we have raised £430.

That's 8497.50 Argentinian Pesos

That's 0.8361 Bitcoin

That's enough to buy us 1/300th of a blimp.

It's also almost a quarter of what we need to raise in total, so thank you so so much for being so generous and kind so far. We are grateful for each and every one of your donations.

Please share our campaign on facebook and twitter and help us spread the word!

Don't forget you can buy tickets to the production here

We're currently hard at work finalising our marketing materials. Keep an eye out for our posters and flyers in the coming weeks!

Much love,
