My wife Danna has been diagnosed with a Stage 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma in the right front lobe of her brain. These types of tumors are aggressive and very nasty.
The neurosurgeon told us that her life expectancy is going to be about 2 years. She is now in a very literal fight for her life. I have been and will continue to do everything I possibly can to help the woman I love fight as hard as she possibly can.
She is going in for her first radiation treatment on Wednesday, Sept. 17th. The treatments will be 5 days a week (Mon thru Fri) and will last for at least 6 weeks. We will be traveling 2 hours a day round-trip every day she goes in.
Danna was the only one bringing in a paycheck before this happened to her. Almost all of my time is spent caring for her, our two children, and my disabled mother. It will be a while yet before I can start to work again due to the many responsibilities that caring for someone in her situation requires.
We are doing everything we can for Danna. Just the act of requesting donations to help with her care hurts my soul. I have never been one to ask for help unless it is absolutely necessary and I have no other options. Unfortunately right now we are right up against a rock and a very hard place.
I send all my thanks to everyone who has donated to her; whether it was through here or in person. Many of you have helped us out in so many other ways as well that I cannot express enough gratitude. We have had so much going on that I fear thanks may have gotten lost.
We are applying for any assistance we can to help out with the daily costs we are incurring during this time. Sadly we are going to be coming up short very soon and I have no idea what I am going to do. I just do not have enough hours in the day to care for Danna and work a full-time job.
If you have the ability to donate to help with the cost that cancer takes on a family that did not have much excess in the first place, please do. Every little bit can help tremendously. It is a nightmare that I have to ask for the charity of others but I will do anything I can for my wife. The support we have already received has humbled me and reaffirmed my faith that people can care so much.
I thank you all for taking the time to read this update and we all appreciate every one of you.
