Distorted Rebels: Make a Movie

Distorted Rebel Productions:
Our First Short Film

WHO WE ARE: We are two artists, and long-time friends, whose shared love of the macabre, horror films, independant art, free thought, and loud 90's rock music, inspired us to start telling our own provocative stories. We were influenced by the likes of John Waters, David Lynch, Gregg Araki, Alfred Hitchcock, Wes Craven, and more. We are but two voices resisting assimilation, our goal; rip open and excite the human imagination with uniquely dynamic visuals, captivating stories, and the consenting violation of every emotion possible.

  Alexander Parmelee
(Director/Writer/Producer)
- Alexander is an aspiring filmmaker and student at USF, where he is honing his storytelling skills with a creative writing degree. Well versed in a variety of video editing software, including Davinci Resolve 12.5 and Adobe Premiere Pro CC, he has been able to make a number of short video pieces with Kelly. (see link below) He has been performing and studying both theater and music since he was a child, and is now ready to step out and bringing his own visions to life. He hopes to use this multitude of skills to create stories that intelligently disturb the audience's reality, throw their senses into duress, and face them "ass-to-mouth" with the stinky putrid bottom of modern society.

  Kelly Abell:
(Director of Photography/Colorist/Producer)
- Kelly has built his career capturing beautifully provocative images of life, death and the phases in between. For 15 years he has documented Tampa’s nightlife, from backstage at outrageous parties, to their inevitable aftermath in the streets. In the studio his lenses have collected light from Tampa’s most glamorous drag queens and hottest male figures. He can awaken your undisclosed sensuality while you stare headfirst into your deepest fears.

THE STORY:
In this 20 minute short film, we will explore the joys of love between two men, and the journey of pain caused by the uptick and normalization of hate crimes faced by LGBTQ and other minorities. We examine what causes good people to snap back when society has pushed them to their limits.

THE PLAN:
We have our cast and crew, and we are ready to begin shooting, We are currently asking for a little bit more funding to help with the purchase of some useful equipment,  Once we are done filming the editing and color correction processes begin. We hope to premier this film at The Space Tampa in late spring/summer 2017.

PLEDGE YOUR SUPPORT:  This burgeoning duo of independent filmmakers and our talented cast, is asking for your financial support to help with: costumes; locations; props; and most importantly, equipment. Your support will allow us to complete this project in a timely manner, and also help us create more spectacular productions. We are silly guys, but we take our work seriously, and we want to bring our audiences the highest quality creations possible.
