Disabled Kitten Medical Treatment
This tiny kitten was found in a dirty driveway in the Los Angeles heat, at 11pm on July 2nd, 2017. He was using his front two paws to drag himself across to where I was standing and speaking with someone else, crying for help. He was unable to use his back two legs, due to either an animal bite or prior abuse.
When we took him home, we gave two flea baths and found a grape-sized pus wound on the back of his left leg where his hip meets. It took several attempts, but we were able to remove all the pus from his leg. From what we heard from a nearby neighbor, the kitten spent all of his Sunday dragging himself through dirt, so you can imagine how ugly this wound was.
With kitten formula, a warm bed, and constant care, he appears to be doing extremely well. As of July 4th, he is practicing walking but still struggles to use his back legs. He has gained weight, sleeps a lot, and drinks several ounces of milk a day. From what I know and have seen from other kittens who suffer from leg disability, he appears to be happy and calm in this new environment.
However, his leg is still infected and he needs medical treatment to find out whether he will be able to use his legs again. A consultation fee alone is $50, and he will most likely be tested for worms, given antibiotics, and maybe receive physical therapy for his legs. I have already spent about $50 of my own money to buy eye treatment for his eye infection and food.
The last thing I want to do is leave him in a shelter or place where he will be euthanized. Please help donate anything you can so this little one will be able to have a swift recovery so that he can be placed in a forever home. Even if you can't donate, sharing this would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
