This Adopt a NARCAN campaign will save lives in Larimer County. We are facing an opioid epidemic in Northern Colorado. We have had two memorials in two months for four brothers and sisters who died from opioid overdoses.
Like the Epiphen price spike, we want to purchase as much nasal NARCAN as we can before its out reach for our indigent opioid addicts. We will also be supporting our first responders . Each NARCAN is $100. It is good for 2 years.
We will follow the Partners in Health community health workers model to educate key point people in our community in administering NARACAN and the Good Samaritan laws that protect a 911 caller from being charged with possession when trying to save a life.
22 Years ago I was working in methadone clinic in NYC when Jonathan Larson was writing the musical RENT. This video "Will I Lose My Diginity?" is our centering song as we continue to work establish a new detox and rehab center for Larimer County residents. We need all hands on deck to confront this opioid epidemic.
