Devins Left Eye for Cannabis

Donation protected

Hello, I'm Devin Lawler and I'm from Manitowoc Wisconsin.  I'll dive right into why I made this page and how I got to be this way.

(Photos taken with flash on make my left eye glow red due to the enlarged pupil)

After work October 5th, 2012, I was participating in a small transaction involving Cannabis before heading home.  However, that night I never got to go home and my life changed forever.  I wound up in the hospital having emergency surgery on my left eye in order to save what was left of it.  I had gotten mugged by someone that I believed to be my friend.  As I was looking away to put things into my pocket, he threw a blindside punch into my left eye, where my glasses ruptered on impact into my eyeball, smashing and splitting it open like an axe on a watermelon.  Whether I was the buyer or seller is irrelevant at this point.  I had blood coming out of my eyeball, and all because somebody (whether it be me or him) wanted access to Cannabis.

(After my 2nd or 3rd Surgery)

I pesonally used Cannabis for my left arm at the time, (12 screws and 2 titanium plates), lack of appetite, and sleep due to anxiety.  Now I have PTSD and 4 surgeries on my left eye to add to my resume.  I'm a 5 foot 6 male, weighing roughly around 110lbs.  Cannabis has helped me from the very beginning, as I utilized it at the start of my 3rd quarter, Senior year in high school until I graduated.  Without it, I don't believe I would have been able to improve from a 1.8 GPA to a 2.8 GPA in a matter of a semester in order to graduate on time with my class of 2011.

Now I'm 22, have been a student at NWTC (North Eastern Wisconsin Technical College) for almost 3 years now, and am nearing my requirements for my IT:Computer Support Specialist Degree.

Bills continue to come in from surgeries and eye doctor visits that I'll never be able to afford and I'll never feel obligated to pay, simply because I was a victim of unjustful laws that lead me to unsafe sources of cannabis, whereas in a medical or legal state i'd be able to get safe access without question.

To this day, I have a donor cornea sewed onto my eyeball, a lens implant, and a dramatic loss of vision and depth perception due to my left eye missing part of it's iris, having 2 surgeries to re-attach my retina, and also my pupil no longer working at all.

All I'm asking for is enough to pay off the medical bills so that I can focus on getting a new car that I so badly need, and so I can pay off my student loans to avoid heavy amounts of interest build up 6 months after I graduate.

I simply do not want anybody to have to go through what I went through.  No man, woman, child, young adult, adult, or senior should ever have to worry about getting mugged or robbed while trying to get access to their prefered medicine of choice.

It is going on 4 years since I was mugged and I don't intend on stopping what I'm doing anytime soon.  I don't want anybody to ever have to lose a year of thier life and half thier vision over a plant like I did.  Everybody should be able to have safe access if needed or desired.  Simple as that.
(Typical day at the eye doctor for me)

I will give credit to all who decide to help embark on this trail with me that I'm currently on now.  Anything that is extra will be going to help fund cannabis legalization as that is the primary reason why my vision and life is changed forever and why my mugger will have a felony on his record for life.  Without Cannabis prohibition, him and I would have much healthier lives to live guaranteed.

For Example: This was  my eye the Christmas of 2015, 3 years after I got mugged.  Right before we got over a foot of snow, this is what happens to my eye.

(Swelling, inconsistency, and pain are common occurences for my eye)

I am also starting a movement where I will be doing pushups daily, starting on April 20th, beginning with 20 pushups and working my way up daily from there, one by one.  The videos will be posted here on this page and it will have it's own youtube channel.  I don't plan on stopping until Cannabis is fully legalized here in America, even if that means I'm doing 1,000 pushups on day 1,000.

Legalize, save eyes, save lives.
