Devastating Flood Damage to Home

$6,600 of $50,000 goal

My siblings and I are raising money for the damages caused by the horrible flood in Houghton County, MI Sunday morning June 17th to our parent's home.  The rains came so fast that the trails above their home overflowed with water and almost immediately started flooding our family home.

They were trapped upstairs for hours with our 3 youngest brothers and had to watch as the road and land gave way around them.  In the early hours of the morning they were rescued via a fireman ladder that had to extend over the road (now a rushing river) and onto the roof.

They are all safe, thank God, but the damages caused to their home, their property, and their vehicle are devastating.

My parents have worked hard their whole lives and raised 9 kids.  Our family home is a beacon of our family's togetherness and love and hard work.  The front porch was built by my dad. The back deck was built by my sister. The rock walkway was created by me and my two brothers.  The roof put on by my dad and brothers. The garden area an effort of friends and neighbors and family. All working together. Not to mention all of the homey items created by our loving mom.  Curtains, wall hangings, photos hung, blankets sewn, walls painted and decorated. All gone.

This is not a cry for help about a structure.  This is a cry for help to aid my parents in recreating a home for our family again.

Please help in any way you can, even if it is not financially, by please sharing our fundraising link to spread the word of our family's distress.

Thank you so much for reading and helping in any way possible.

Big storms again last night and this morning. Dad and my brother Joe had to run to the fire department because the creek is on the verge of flooding the house again. Many roads are washed out again from Dollar Bay through Lake Linden. We are not out of this yet.

Hello all. Flood cleanup has been instense. 4 days spent cleaning out the basement and we can finally see the floor! A full day cleaning out under the porch that was filled to the brim with mud and dirt. Walls are being torn out. The yard has heavy equipment hauling out the dirt and dump trucks are carrying it away. It is still a mess, but the work has been exponential. The Hubbell Fire Department has been more than fantastic this hole time! Thanks to all the Firemen and women and volunteers! ♥️♥️♥️

You guys are all so amazing. Our heartache is being mended by all of the families and friends who are thinking of us. We are currently trying to clean out the lower level, dig out the basement, and salvage anything we can. We feel so amazingly blessed.
