In December 2018, it became clear that Sofia's local public school wasn't adequate for her needs. After many long conversations with the teachers, counselors, and administrators (starting 18 months ago), I began to look at private school options.
Sofia was accepted into very competitive schools, including the Washington Waldorf school. We were awarded the largest amount of scholarship possible. However, we still owe the following:
$13,470 tuition
$2200 aftercare
$880 lunches
TOTAL: $16,550
I'm searching for a second full-time job and have taken on some contract work in the meantime to begin saving. I've already paid $2500 to hold Sofia's place at the school. (It's a nonrefundable deposit that isn't counted toward tution.)
I'm committed to having Sofia attend a Waldorf school because in my heart of hearts (and as a person with a degree in education from Harvard), I know this is what's best for my daughter. Look at her smiling face in that photo--she's wearing a USC shirt because she has a passion for learning and is deeply committed to attending college.
I took a leap of faith signing the enrollment contract, and I trust that a pathway forward will emerge. In the meantime, I'm humbly asking that you consider investing in Sofia's future by making a small contribution towards the three items that are due on July 1st:
1) $1347 - monthly tuition bill (raised!!!)
2) $880 - yearly school lunch bill (raised!!!!)
3) $2200 - yearly aftercare bill (still need to raise)
