Dennis Smith Memorial Fund

Dennis Smith was admitted to the Hospital on October 10, 2016 with a broken hip; Post surgery he developed Re-occurring aspiration Pneumonia; he was unable to swallow and had a PEG tube inserted during his stay. During this time he was put in ICU and developed Sepsis. He was released from the Hospital on November 9th to go to a Rehabilitation to have intense therapy to walk as well as speech therapy for swallowing. He was rushed back the ER on November 11th; he was diagnosed with Pneumonia, severe dehydration and went into Septic Shock while in the ER. He was put in ICU and had to be put on the ventilator 3 separate times due to being in repertory distress. He remained in the ICU until December 8th, where he was moved to the Hospice floor and passed away that afternoon. He spent a total of 8 ½ weeks in the Hospital except for 5 days in Rehab. His medical bills are extremely high and his wife is now without his income.
