A Hero: Demarcus Doss
$22,440 of $20k goal
Demarcus Doss - was a 24 year old loving son, dependable brother, goofy uncle, cheerful nephew, wonderful cousin, amazing friend, determined student but in his last moments many of you may not know that he was a hero.
On March 9, 2017, Demarcus and a friend were driving on the freeway in Richmond, CA when passengers in another vehicle fired at them. Demarcus, a man of courage and the mentality of a protector, shielded his friend with his body. Absorbing most of the bullets. His friend survived with non-life threatening injuries.
While this act was a heroic one, we are deeply saddened to have lost such an exceptional person. We are not surprised of his actions. He was a man that had a genuine loving and caring heart.
The sudden loss has left the family in shock and in need of support. Every and any amount would make a difference. All donations will be given to Demarcus’ brother, Kellis Love. If donating is not an option for you, please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you in advance for your contribution.

With much gratitude,
That is so sad to see him go that soon. I remember him from El Sobrante Elementary School and Murphy Elementary School. He was one of my classmates. He was a great kid and did good in school. He grew up to be a wonderful and heroic man. I'm so sorry for your lost. My heart goes out to the family and friends of Demarcus Doss. May he rest in peace.
When I close my eyes and picture demarcus, all I see is his smile. Whether it was at CCC, starbucks, YMCA, or anywhere I would run into him, he would always go out if his way to greet me. I would turn around see that smile and I dare anyone to not smile back, He truly had the ability to brighten up anyones day. Our conversations included basketball, football and career goals. Boy did this man have his priorities straight, disciplined dietarian, health beast, workout-a-holic, education...he took classes at a mixture of universities, csus, and ccs, determined to become an officer, I believe he was on his last steps too. Smh. I wish I got to know him longer but feel blessed to have met him and become friends RIP
Condolences to your family, friends and community. Demarcus, in the years I've known you, you were not just my Prom date, but a friend for life. We've been through so much & we just spoke not too long ago. I'm beyond destroyed to see you go, but your soul and smile will always be with me. Justice will find its way to you, we're not going to leave this as is. You've got mega family in all of us, and I'm glad God placed you in my life for the time he did. Because you were a piece of my life, I am a better version of myself. You affected so many of us. God is love, Rest peacefully D❤️ With deepest sympathy, Vanessa Diaz & Kayden J.
Very sad to learn of this young man's life being taken away by some low life, but it is hard to go out better than that of a hero - risking his life to protect another. I will say a prayer for him and his family.
