Hi friends!
Here is an opportunity to help the DeLaughter family!
Joli and Aaron (and Wesley) are so very loved by countless numbers of families and friends and we wanted to provide a way for you to physically be able to do something- by donating financially through this website.
We decided to set up this account so that friends and family, both near and far can help out the DeLaughter family. This fund will contribute to medical bills & Aaron's leave from work during Joli & Wesley's time in the hospital. Any financial help, along with your continued prayers would be GREATLY appreciated!
So many people have been asking Aaron and their family how they can help these past few days and he is SO grateful and overwhelmed by the support they are receiving.
In case you are not aware of the full story here it is:
Sweet little Wesley Anderson DeLaughter was born at 12:09 on Monday February 9th. After getting to hospital after Joli's water broke late Sunday night, the nurse realized there were complications with his umbilical cord and at some point during the emergency c-section he lost his oxygen supply. When he was born he did not have a heartbeat or was breathing on his own. The medical team quickly got him back breathing on his own.
The next day the doctors notcied that Wesley was having slight seizures, caused from the lack of oxygen during his birth. They transferred him to a different hospital to have several neurological tests run. Joli was also transferred.
All the tests have shown slight signs of abnormalities, but the doctors have said they may not know anything for certain until later. He is doing well, responding to seizure medicines, getting stronger and more alert and took his first bottle on Tuesday the 17th! And he is SO cute!! (see picture below)
On 2/13 the doctors discovered fluid in Joli's abdomen and had to perform surgery to re-open her c-section incision. During surgery they drained 2 L of infectious fluid and then rinsed with another 11 L of saline. She was being treated for sepsis and has been in ICU since Friday night. Her heart rate has been quite high and she has been on a broad spectrum of antibiotics while they tried to figure out what/where the infection was.
She has felt a constant peace from the Lord and says she has felt angels surrounding her.
Unfortunately on 2/15 Joli had to go back into surgery and they performed a hysterectomy because the infection was in fact strep and had become so advanced in her uterus. She has been in the ICU for a few days but her white blood cell count has slowly been lowering and heart rate going down, which is good news!
Yesterday (2/17) she was fully alert, breathing on her own, feeling better and able to enjoy her first drink in a few days- a gatorade! The physical therapist also got her up and moving in her room. Joli is now (2/18) being transferred to IMCU which is a step down but not fully in her own room yet.
Prayers still needed for her infection to be GONE and the medicine to do it's job and rid her body fully of all the infection!
Aaron said he was reading in James the other day and asked that we join in praying James 1:2-4 for them: "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." He has been a rock for his sweet family through this all and the outpouring of love and support from people all over has been so appreciated by him, Joli and little Wesley.
God has been so present with the DeLaughters through all of this! He is a Healer and is faithful! The body of Christ has come together from all over and prayed for these sweet friends and it has been amazing. Thank you everyone for your constant prayers, encouragement and love for Joli, Aaron and Wesley. They truly feel it!
