100-Year-Old School In Need....

Our 100+ year old school in Hamtramck, Michigan houses over 700 students.  Our classroom instruction and teaching staff is second to none and we are so proud of that.  We would like our functional environment to be at the same high level.  As you can imagine, a 100 year old school comes with its fair share of building related issues.  We strive to maintain a safe environment for all our students, staff, and parents that walk the halls.  Over the last few years, our tile flooring has begun to crack and break, leaving a situation that is in desperate need of repair.  Part of our GoFundMe project is to replace the floor to get rid of the cracks and holes that can be quite treacherous. ($7,500)

At Dickinson East Elementary School, we also have a very diverse population (with over 20 different languages spoken).  We strive to meet the needs of all our learners and meet them at their instructional level.  However, maintaining classroom libraries at such diverse levels is quite expensive.  The second part of our GoFundMe project is geared towards building up these classroom libraries so they are sufficient for all our students at all their different levels. ($7,500 - for reading books so children can independently read no matter their level)
