Defeating Voldemort medical fund

$7,930 of $10,000 goal

I'm Elisa Bennett, wife to Jason Bennett, and mother to Ayla (11) and Seth(7).  I was recently diagnosed with Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, an aggressive form of breast cancer.  I begin 4 months of chemotherapy on October 30th, then surgery and radiation.

Although we are fortunate enough to have private health insurance through my husbands employer, it will not cover all of the medical costs.  We have to reach our out of pocket maximum for this year and start over for next year as my treatment will be ongoing.

We need to get counseling for both of our children who have special needs and are having a difficult time coping with these big emotions.   There will be many prescription and over the counter medical costs along with equipment costs.  My husband is eligible for FMLA, but it is completely unpaid so he is unable to participate in my treatment without losing income that we depend on.

I have never been in a position to have to ask for money before and every single penny will be appreciated and used toward my fight.

The battle against Voldemort continues. Things have been rough but we are pushing through.

Jason is still searching diligently for a job and we hope the right one is just around the corner.

My new round of chemo has been very challenging for me physically. My nails are peeling off, the fatigue is crushing, but worst of all, I developed hyperglycemia in reaction to the steroids used in treatment. Now I take insulin 4 times a day. (You all know how much I love shots, giving them to myself is a bit of a nightmare for me.)

At this point, we desperately need help. Our bills, medical and otherwise, are adding up. Much of my blood sugar testing supplies and treatment are not covered. The $100/month in food stamps does not go very far for a carb free diet.

We thank each and every one of you who have donated, please share this as much as you can. Every penny counts. All positive thoughts/vibes/prayers are so welcome.

Our hard times just got much harder. Jason's division at Comcast was let go on December 13th. This is completely devistating to our family as it is our only income and our health insurance. Cobra is 1600 a month, which is more than unemployment for a month. ACA would be even more than cobra with a $14,000 deductible.

We currently have no savings. We had been saving for a house for a long time and finally purchased one a month before diagnosis. We are terrified of losing our home.

I still have 3 more months of chemo, a double breast surgery, and radiation. I am responding well to chemo and have a good chance for health. As long as I can pay for it.

We need your help now more than ever. Those of you who have already donated, thank you so incredibly much. I know money is tight this time of year for everyone, but please share this with your friends.

We really need help and positive vibes toward Jason quickly finding a new job.
