Deb loves being a Grandparent

My name is Ben, and November 8th was one of the most emotional days of my life. I was awoke to the joyous news that day of my wife saying her water might have broke. It is our 3rd child, and my parents we're going to watch Brynn(4), and Violet(2). My mom is an accountant and my dad is a self-employed mechanic of 15 years. They had both cleared their schedules.
Moments later I got a call from my Dad's cell phone and between muffled cryin, He told me to come to the hospital. I finally forced him to tell me what happened, and all he would tell me is that mom had an accident. I ran upstairs and told Jess (my wife) what happened. She went and called him, being in the early stages of labor she kinda needed to know and I understood.
My mother had had a mild stroke at the age of 56. My wife said go as her dad was coming to watch the girls, and she would let me know when I needed to come back.
After finally finding the room, I talked to my dad and he explained what happened.
She had gone to the gym around 4am (she usually goes that early), and was with a trainer when she got dizzy. It didn't go away so her trainer called an ambulance and then my dad. After the ambulance arrived she again called my dad letting him know what was going on. Her blood pressure had spiked to over 200 when the perimedics arrived, and she had feeling on the left side but couldn't move her extremities.
After waiting outside the room for what seemed like an eternity, and trying to wrap my mind around what all happened, I finally got to see mom.
I walked in restraining my emotions and said, 'Hi Mom, how are ya doing?' she responded with 'Okay now. Your Dad told me about Jess, I'm just sad now that I can't spend time with the girls,' She starts crying. 'I had so many things planned.' I said, 'You get better and you'll have plenty of time to play with the girls.' 'I know, but I was so looking forward to that.' she said.
After 2 weeks and 2 days straight in the hospital, mom is now walking with a cane, very cautiously, and is finally home. She got to see her 3rd granddaughter (Chloe is her name) after 6 days in the hospital, but still doesn't want to hold her until she feels confident picking her up. (She still can't move her arm freely, but can with assistance.)
Unfortunetely due to the Federal Healthcare system, my parents make too much for welfare based insurance, and not enough for Federal insurance. The bills still keep rolling in and with continued Physical and Speech Therapy it could be well over $150,000 dollars. my parents are very proud and independant people, not normally asked for help, but will help others if they can. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated so she can focus on recovery and not the enormous debt that could hang over their head for years to come.
