In Memory of Dean Elder

Donation protected
All donations will be given directly to Dean's widow, Alice Elder.
The funds will be used to help with Dean's funeral since he had to cancel his life insurance to help pay for his son's insulin.
Any leftover funds will be used to pay his daughter's medical bills, fix the leaking roof, and fix a vehicle to help Alice and Christina to get to work,
This fund was created by Alice's brother-in-law, Pat Grover.

Dean Elder was an honest, hard working, soft spoken family man who never complained about the many struggles in life.

He and his wife, Alice, struggled to support their daughter and young son.  Dean worked full time in a shop fixing tires while Alice worked in a daycare.  They were the typical family in which both spouses worked full-time jobs and were still below the poverty line yet they were too proud to take handouts.

When they learned about their son's type 1 diabetes they didn't know how they would be able to afford to pay for the medicine.  They did the same as millions of Americans.  They did what they had to do to give their son the medicine he needed to live, sacrificing of themselves, asking for more hours at work, using the limited paycheck for medicine and food and asking for extensions on the utilitiy payments.

Dean and Alice stayed up nights, after the kids were in bed, and held each other, tears in their eyes, shutoff notices on the table and prayed that God would find a way for them.  They never gave up hope and they never told anyone how hard they were struggling, not even their children.  They had the ultimate love for their family and would make sure their kids came first.

The morning Dean was killed in the car accident he was riding with his daughter.  She was to drop him off at work because his vehicle was broken down again.  He had planned to go to "U Pull It" and get the parts he needed to fix it, like he had so many other times over the past years, but they decided to use the money for Christmas gifts for his kids, his grandchild and his ailing Mom whom he has been caring for daily rather than putting her in a nursing home.  He would fix his car a little at a time over the next few paychecks.

Dean, even though he had nothing, had everything a man could hope to obtain in this life.  He had the loving closeness of a family that relied on each other and supported each other through the struggles of life.  He now leaves behind a widow in tears not only for the loss of her love of over 20 years but also tears of not knowing how she's going to afford to bury her husband, not knowing how she's going to be able to afford to pay for the insulin for her son, not knowing how she's going to be able to pay the utility shutoff notices in a broken down house with a broken down vehicle in the front yard still waiting for the "U Pull It" parts.

Dean would have never asked for help and Alice will be embarrased, but I'm asking that you contribute what you can to help her get back on her feet and get her through the loss.  Even if you can't afford to donate money please send her a letter telling her you care.  Her address is below.
