T-Shirts for VA cancer patients

$1,580 of $2,000 goal

Kenneth R Hoenig  BENNINGTON, NE
I am a VietNam vet who is under going cancer treatment at the Omaha, NE VA. The cancer center at the VA has the best and dedicated nurses and staff of any I have seen.

These nurses took it upon themselves to raise some money to buy their cancer patients the t-shirt you see me wearing. Unfortunately they were not able to raise enough money to buy shirts for all of their patients. I want to see if we can raise $1,000 dollars. I don't know if it will be enough money but if not we will do another campaign.

These shirts denote a positive outlook/attitude and if you have ever had or know of someone who has cancer a positive attitude is a must have for the patient.

If you can't afford to donate please pray for all those undergoing any form of cancer treatment.

Thank you very much for your support.

I would appreciate it if everyone would share this with those you friend on facebook or other social meda. This is personal for me in that I am still receiving treatment from these fine folks. I see and talk with the veterans who utilize the services of this cancer center and each of them are very grateful for the center and the dedicated folks who work there. The goal is another $850 but I would like to see more than that raised so each veteran will be able to receive a t-shirt.
Thank you for your help.

Here is an update on where we are to date.

This is from an email I received from the VA nurse who ordered the last batch of shirts;

"Just want to let you know I ordered 131 shirts today @ little over $9 a shirt! This company was terrific working with me. Free shipping and should arrive the first week of December. Ironically I had a flurry of emails today wondering why Lincoln and Grand Island didn't get any of the first 27 shirts we got. So I have already sent a message to them asking what their need is for shirts. I gave one to a patient today and he cried - I cried too!"

These shirts mean a lot to these veterans, it fulfills a sense of accomplishment in a time of seemingly unaccomplshments.

Please spread the word of our campaign so we can continue to buy more shirts and continue to help these veterans feel a good sense of accomplishment.

Ok, we have reached our $1,000 goal and again I thank each of you donors. It is greatly appreciated. However, after talking with one of the nurses in the cancer center at the Omaha VA we don't have enough money to buy shirts for the current patients so I am appealing once again for your support, either in prayers for these vets or donations to buy more t-shirts.
Please share this among your facebook friends and other social media outlets at your desposal. I would like to exceed the $2,000 and be able to buy a couple hundred shirts.
Thank you again for your support and generosity.
