The saying "cancer sucks" is true no matter who the patient is, and our family can personally attest to this as my three year-old nephew Davis Michael McLarnon was recently diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Davis Michael was admitted to Hasboro Hospital in Providence, RI on Monday June 26th with persistent headaches. After a thorough diagnostic workup, imaging confirmed a tumor in the posterior area of his brain. Neurosurgery promptly scheduled surgery to remove the tumor the following day, and after over 10 hours of waiting our family was informed the tumor had been successfully removed in its entirety. Unfortunately, bad news followed. Pathological results of the tumor showed it was malignant. Following these results, Davis had a spinal tap to assess for microscopic spread of the tumor in the spinal fluid. This test brought more bad news. The tumor is metastatic and cells were found in Davis' spinal fluid column. It isn't all bad news though. Davis is a strong and resilient child. Like I said, "CANCER SUCKS" but we know Davis can and WILL BEAT THIS. The next steps in treatment are being discussed with Oncologists and the McLarnon family as they decide how to proceed in fighting this. Davis will most likely require Radiation, Chemotherapy or both, along with multiple hospital visits and trips various hospitals in New England. We will keep everyone updated and are so thankful for everyone's kind words during this difficult time. All we ask is that you keep our tough little boy Davis Michael and the McLarnon family in your thoughts and prayers as they face what comes next. This is a small way that we can show our love and support for Davis and the McLarnon Family. Thank you

Davis was an absolute rockstar today; sleeping for 4 out of the 5 hours of the harvest procedure. Should get a call late tonight to let us know if we need to go back in again for a 2nd round tomorrow. They seemed hopeful that his levels were so high today that they were able to get the 20,000,000 minimum amount of stem cells needed for the transplant . Thanks for all of your positive words and thoughts today

Hey friends and family,

We wanted to provide an update for all of you praying for our tough little man. After thoroughly discussing our options with physicians and hospital team providing Davis' care, we have decided as a family to proceed with intensive chemotherapy. We truly believe this is our best option at this time and hope to avoid radiation and it's effects given Davis' age. Radiation therapy may be needed down the line, but for now we are hopeful that chemotherapy will work wonders for our little boy. Starting yesterday, Davis began preparation for chemotherapy. A port was surgically placed yesterday and Davis handled the procedure like the champ that he is. He will undergo additional testing and if all goes well, he will begin intensive chemotherapy this Thursday July 27th. Davis will receive five cycles of chemotherapy, with each cycle lasting three or more weeks. Following completion of all cycles, Davis will undergo one final procedure. At that time, we are hopeful our journey will have come to an end and Davis Michael McLarnon will be CANCER FREE! We plan to take each procedure, treatment, and challenge one day at a time finding strength in prayer and in our support system. We cannot thank each of you enough for your unwavering support and kindness. We wish we were not on this journey at all, but we sure are glad we are not alone. Thank you and please keep praying for our tough little man!
Davis Tough, Monster Tough
