David Giese's Medical Fund

$2,825 of $93,000 goal

My brother, David Giese, had to stop working in January when he was diagnosed with bullous pemphigoid. At that time, he was hospitalized for a week. Shortly after being released from this initial hospitalization, he was returned to the hospital and was diagnosed with lupus. He was in the hospital for over eight weeks, one of those weeks being spent in the ICU. He is being treated from the effects of this disease. He will shortly (we hope) be transferred to a care center for physical rehab and will be there for two to four weeks, maybe longer.

His wife continues to work at two part-time jobs and travels two hours each way several days a week to see David in the hospital. Travel time will be reduced to one hour each way when he is in the care center.

Unfortunately, their health insurance - with high monthly premiums - pays minimally on the hospital bills, tests, rehab, etc.

Any help with medical costs, travel expenses, monthly expenses, etc. is greatly appreciated.

Becky transferred David to Knute Nelson facility in Alexandria today, May 30, for rehab and physical therapy. Hopefully in a couple of weeks or so David will be strong enough to go home. 2 and a half to 3 months is a long time to be away from your own home. Even though the end seems to be in sight and Alex is half as far as St Cloud, the expenses will keep piling up for Dave and Becky. Please keep up with your support and prayers. Thank you.

David was supposed to be transferred to Knute Nelson in Alexandria for rehab and physical therapy today but had a fever overnight. Fever is now down but they realized he has a stress fracture in his left leg due to restraints from two weeks ago. I don't think St Cloud hospital wants to let him go.

Has he applied for Medicaid and SSDI? He should be able to qualify for both. Prayers for the family.
