Dear Friends,
I am thankful and humbled that so many people are attending our event tomorrow. I am sending this email just to give you a sense of what is going to happen at the party. First and foremost, this is a family friendly and fun event. Please dress comfortably and casually.
Obviously, our main goal is to raise as much money as we can for the Francis Center. In that spirit, we’ll be doing a basket auction with about 25 or so items (you do not need to be present to win) including a basket with Buffalo Sabres items, a hockey stick signed by Sabres defenseman Marco Sandoval, gift certificates, Christmas-themed items, etc. And, of course, we’ll do a 50-50 raffle. We will also have pieces of the children’s art for sale. We kindly ask that if you’re planning on participating in the auction or 50-50 that you bring cash or a check with you as we won’t have the ability to take credit cards.
This is also not a formal sit-down dinner. We are being catered by JCI Catering out of Lewiston. So, we should have plenty of food … but should something go awry, we will order us some Frenchy’s pizza – so long as no one fills up on pizza tonight at the Festival of Slice. Check that out at https://www.niagarafallsusa.com/events-calendar/festival-of-slice/.
We will have music playing – apparently going back as far as, yes, 1968. We will also have a young NU student singing for us a little later.
I am very excited that we are having this event at the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center. They are graciously allowing us use of this space and keeping staff on for the duration of the event. I am hoping some of you will consider visiting the museum and taking a tour. They, too, are a nonprofit organization with a limited budget so any business we can bring them will be appreciated.
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow night. Oh, and if you do have any new or lightly used books for children ages 7-8 please bring them with you.
Thank you again,
