Danica Jorgensen Medical Support
On September 27, 2016, I sat in the doctor's office with Danica as she received the words no one ever wants to hear, "Its cancer." And suddenly, life got way more real. You always hear it happening to others, but you never expect to have it happen to your best friend.
She immediately started hormone blockers in an attempt to reduce the size of the tumor before surgery. While the tumor did shrink on the treatment, new spots showed up on the next MRI that raised concerns and surgery was scheduled ASAP. On April 18, 2017, Danica underwent masectomy surgery to remove the tumor and surrounding tissue.
Danica is self-employed and works hard at running Danica Jorgensen Show Horses. Being self-employed, she doesn't get sick days or paid vacation. Thankfully, she is also part-time employed with Texas Tech and receives insurance through them. However, the medical bills are piling up and just really beginning. Masectomy is just the first step to beating this cancer, and further treatments will be necessary to make sure Danica kicks cancer's butt.
Danica is a very strong, independent person, always willing to help others. And now its time for all of those that she has helped, to give back in her time of need.
My goal is to raise enough funds to help cover her medical expenses from this surgery and subsequent treatments so that all she has to worry about it getting healthy and back to doing what she truly loves, training horses and their owner/riders. The stress of worrying about the financials is not condusive to healing.
If you can give monetarily, every little bit helps. The bills are already coming in, and she has already spent thousands just in medicines and imaging, and the surgery bill is sure to be large, even with insurance.
