Created July 23, 2018
On July 22, 2018, our peaceful and busy neighbourhood was being enjoyed by hundreds of people and families when a gunman opened fire and injured many people, including a 10 year old girl. Two young girls were killed.
We as a neighbourhood, are raising funds to help these people cover the costs associated with this tragedy. Whether it be health care costs, funeral arrangements or lost wages, our DanforthStrong neighbourhood does NOT accept this type of violence, and we are here to help.

*UPDATE as of JULY 24 2018* We have learned that some of the victims have sustained life-altering injuries.
Your donations will directly help the victims and families of the shooting. We are working with our Toronto City Councillors (Paula Fletcher and Mary Fragedakis) in the area to direct the funds once the campaign is closed.  These funds will be offered to all victims.
Thank You for helping!!!

Hi Friends!

This is an update to Thank Each and Every One of you who donated to this Fund for the Victims of the Danforth Shooting.

At this time, we are officially closing this account, and directing these Funds equally between all of the Victims. This is being done through the Toronto Foundation, for the sake of efficiency and speed.

100% of the Donations you have made here will be split equally between all 13 Victims. (Originally, it was thought that there were 15, but we have confirmed through many official sources that there were, in fact, 13 people shot that night. We have a complete list of all 13 people, and I have personally spoken with all of them, and/or their Families. Some are recovering well from their wounds and have been able to return to work or school, but others still have months and possibly years of physical recovery. Of course, emotional recovery will take some time.

I can't say enough how much your support has meant. Your messages and words of encouragement have touched our hearts.

The Toronto Foundation will continue to accept donations on behalf of the Victims. Many events (such as the Billy Talent Concert and others), the LCBO, Loblaws etc have been taking donations for the Victims through the Toronto Foundation. If you would like further information, or if anyone has friends who would like to donate, they can be found at https://www.torontofoundation.ca/torontostrong

Thank you for your donations. You have helped change lives through them.

Love, Keiley

I wanted to update everyone on the progression of the Danforth Strong Fund, and what happens next.

First of all, a heartfelt THANK YOU to all who have donated so far! We are very close to our goal!

I had a conference call on Friday with the Mayor's office and several others involved in helping to distribute this Fund, including the Toronto Foundation (Toronto Strong Fund). They have been instrumental in helping with information and support.

I have been in touch personally with 11 direct victims (and Family Representatives), and am waiting for information from 4 more. Once this information is complete on all 15 victims, I'll be cross-referencing with a representative from Victim's Services to make sure we have a complete list.

When that list is complete, this Fund will be closed, and each Victim will receive an equal amount of 100% of Funds collected here.

The City of Toronto and the Toronto Foundation will be helping me to disperse the Funds, as they have all the necessary legal paperwork already in place. I will be a part of this process in it's entirety.

Speaking directly to Victims has been at once over-whelming, and also uplifting, if that makes any sense at all. The courage of people who were directly injured is hard to put into words.

They have asked me to THANK YOU, each and every one, for your overwhelming support and kindness. Just knowing that you took the time to donate and your messages of love and support has touched them all.

This Fund will remain open until all information for all Victims has been obtained, which should be very shortly.

Thank You from the bottom of my heart!

Please continue to share this campaign! Danforth Strong!! I wish that I could thank each and every one of you personally., but I can't! There are so many!!! If you are local, or in the GTA, or feel like a drive to the Danforth... please join us on Wednesday, July 25 at the Danforth Church (at Bowden Ave) for a Community Vigil. We'll be starting in front of the Church, walking east to Ferrier Ave ( a 5-minute walk) and then to the Alexander (Logan) Parkette at the Fountain ( a minute walk to there). We will have a short, Inter-Faith service there. Bring a candle, and hugs! Thank You All!
