Keri and Dahlia's pPROM fight

$2,445 of $5,000 goal

To anyone who didn't know and to all those that do, but would like more answers and/or would like to help out, here's our story:
Keri is currently pregnant with her third baby, and first daughter (!) Dahlia. The pregnancy has had some complications, but baby has remained healthy despite. About half way through the pregnancy,at 21 weeks and 3 days, Keri's water broke entirely too early. This event is spontaneous and with no known cause and it is termed previable preterm Premature Rupture Of Membranes. For more information on pPROM I'll add a link or you can simply Google pPROM. This has been devastating for the Putt family. In short, Keri has successfully maintained the pregnancy long enough through two weeks of antibiotics and bedrest to be admitted to the labor and delivery unit of the hospital for steroids and monitoring for the remainder of the pregnancy. This hospital stay could be very short or (hopefully) very long depending on how well Dahlia does and how long she chooses to stay in there. What this means for Dahlia is that she will very likely be a micro-preemie and will have a very long and difficult fight ahead of her! Literally, the fight of her life! We ask that in lieu of gifts, you consider donating, or at the very least, saying some prayers for the family. Keri is currently out of work and lives 1hr from the hospital, so between the daily cost of living, family travel to and from hospital, cost of baby gear, and general expenses that the family will encur over the next few months, the family will be struggling. All donations will be lovingly received and the family will continue to update on progress regularly. Any little bit helps. Thank you all so much!

Hi to all our new friends who saw our post/articles, and hello to all our loyal friends following our journey! This week we were published in Huffington Post, Fit Pregnancy, Babble.com, and Cosmopolitan following our post on Breastfeeding Mama Talk! I'm overwhelmed with all of the love and prayers we've received. Dahlia is 4lb 7oz and she continues to show the nicu that she's the boss! She has attempted to take all feeds by mouth the last 24hrs and is doing amazing with them. She moved to a "big girl" bed last week and has successfully maintained her temperature. We've had no major breathing episodes with feeds in 4 days and she passed her hearing test today with flying colors! I'll update again as we get closer to going home
I'm big!

Dahlia is 1 month tomorrow and surpassing all expectations! She's 3lb 5oz... She's gained a full pound in her first month of life! She has just started to attempt to breastfeed and although it isn't for nutrients yet, she's benefiting from the bonding and she's learning. She is tolerating all her feeds by tube at this time and has had very few apnea episodes (that she has been able to self correct quickly) associated with her gestation. She's a miracle in every sense!

Earth day brought us the smallest, but mightiest Dahlia ♡♡ Born at 28 weeks and 3 days, 2lbs 5oz, 14in long, Dahlia is doing wonderful! She is on Cpap with room air, has already had some breast milk from a Q-tip on her lips, and is defying all odds. We all knew she was going to be a fighter! Keep praying because she's got a long journey ahead of her. We will update as we know more.

Still pregnant! The growth scan yesterday showed that Dahlia is growing! At 27 weeks, she's weighing in at 890 gm or 1lb 15oz; 14th percentile. Although she is a bit under weight, they are happy with her progress. It's hard to grow when you are squished! She is still breech, so a c-section will be necessary unless she turns and there are no emergency situations. Fluid levels are up between 2.4-4.4 depending on the day, how much fluid she has in her bladder, and who is scanning us. She continues to look wonderful on the monitors, showing no distress and we've had no contractions to speak of. It's been almost 6 weeks since rupture and so far, we are defying the odds! Please keep sending all that love our way. Thank you to all those who have visited with us, sent us care packages, those who are helping with the boys, and most of all I have to recognize my husband Derrick for taking over as a single dad while I'm here and doing a phenomenal job! We love you all and will continue to update ♡
