In November, the Tessigner family received a call that we all fear, something was very wrong with their seemingly healthy 17 year old daughter Dacey.  A check up with her family doctor had revealed a dangerously elevated white blood cell count.  The doctor called them at home that evening and told her parents to get her to the emergency room right away.  By the next morning, they heard the devastating diagnosis-- Dacey has leukemia.

She was transferred to GHS Childrens, an hour from her home, by ambulance.  The next day she was taken into surgery. They placed a port for her treatments, did a bone marrow biopsy, a spinal tap and gave her the first of many doses of chemo.  

She has spent weeks upon weeks in the hospital, received round after round of chemo, and battled infections and severe illnesses.  Dacey now needs a bone marrow transplant to beat leukemia.  She will receive her transplant in Charleston, SC and her family will have to relocate for several months while she is at MUSC.  Following her transplant and recovery, she will need chemo for 2-3 more years.  

Through all she has faced, you can still find her smiling! Please help Dacey as she fights!!  Donations will cover medical expenses and help her family as they stay by her side through her battle.
