LORENZO PEREZ SEARCH & RESCUE FUND
Please help bring Lorenzo back home to his loving wife, five children, parents, and six siblings.
Lorenzo is the embodiment of the phrase “family man”—loving husband, dedicated father, hard-worker and provider, and caring son . On a sunny Memorial Day, Lorenzo along with his wife and children went on a family outing to the Puyallup River. It was supposed to be a day of leisure and fun doing one of the things Lorenzo loved doing most, being outdoors and fishing. As Lorenzo was fishing, the earth crumbled from underneath him and he fell, back-first, into the freezing, rapid-moving river. Lorenzo is a non-swimmer but fought to stay afloat. Two very brave rescuers, to whom we will be eternally grateful, jumped into the fierce river to try and save him but the river’s freezing temperature and rapid current proved to be too great a force. Brave members of the rescue crews from Puyallup, Sumner, Pierce County, and East Pierce fire departments immediately began a rescue effort. They searched for him for three days, at times risking their own lives. We will be eternally grateful for their hard work and dedication. But, unfortunately, due to local ordinances and/or protocols, the search was suspended after the third day.
The family is exploring all options to continue the search, including the procurement of a private search and rescue team. Funds raised will be used to fund the search and rescue effort, and the remaining funds will be donated to his wife and children for all necessary expenses.
Lorenzo is a kind, generous, loving soul. He has always provided for his family. He has five children – his eldest daughter is eight months pregnant and in North Carolina where her husband is stationed and unable to travel, and he has three minor children with the youngest, his son, being 8 years old. He and his wife have been married for 28 years, and began dating when they were teenagers. They are soul mates, and have an everlasting, unfaltering love. Lorenzo has two elderly parents, 90 year old father and 76 year old mother, who cannot travel because of their advanced age and medical conditions. He has six-siblings – one sister and five brothers—who have an amazing, unbreakable bond. He is a man of faith and devote member of his parish. He has countless friends, as he is always ready to lend a hand.
Lorenzo was always willing to help those less fortunate so he deserves that we return the favor. Please help our family bring Lorenzo home. We are hoping for a miracle, but are prepared for the worst. Our family needs closure and Lorenzo deserves to come home.
