My sister Lisa is a dedicated employee of the Conejo Valley Unified School District for over ten years. Lisa loves her job as the Activities Assistant for Thousand Oaks High School.  She is well respected for her dedication to TOHS and the students. She is a dedicated wife and mom of two amazing girls. Lisa sustained life threatening injuries due to a hit and run incident involving a 16-year old student.  We have never been in a situation like this.  Her husband had to leave his contracted job over seas to be by his wife and daughters side. Lisa will have a long road to recovery. Any donations are appreciated.

Up Date: All of us would like to THANK everyone for their generosity and kind words. We are overwhelmed by this out pouring of love for our sister, wife, mother, daughter and friend. your words have truly comforted and helped us. we look forward to sharing them with Lisa.

For those of you who don't know the extent of her injuries:

Brain Bleed
Broken left and right ribs
Broken collar bone
Punctures in both lungs
Broken Jaw

Each day has been a little better than the previous day. We will keep you all updated on her progress and recovery. Thank You again for your generosity, kindness, prayer's and love for Lisa.

With much appreciation,

The Solis and Hernandez Family.

Hello this is Lisa and I wanted to take this opportunity to post my update and most of all thank each and everyone of you for your generosity and support. Although I have a long road ahead, I’m filled with joy from all of the support I have received by so many people. When I think of everyone who has reached out to me in some way or another, not just by this Go Fund Me, I’m moved to tears. I’ve heard from people near and far, not just in Thousand Oaks. As a native of Thousand Oaks I’m also moved by how my community has lifted my spirits with their prayers and thoughts.

I am now home. I’ve been home since April 12th which makes two weeks now. I’m so happy to be here with my family. My injuries are healing nicely. I’ve come a long way and again I still have a long way to go, but I’m confident I will get there. I still need the two wound vacs on my leg from surgery and I have to visit the amazing Los Robles Wound Care Center twice a week. They take very good care of me there. I’m still working on getting my strength back and waiting for all my other injuries to heal. Each day is a new day and I am staying positive and grateful to be here.

Again my family and I cannot not thank you enough for your love, prayers and support!

Love, prayers and friendship,

Lisa Hernandez Solis

Another infection was discovered today by Lisa's Doctor. An ultrasound showed more fluid near her ankle. Lisa was taken into surgery shortly after 1:00 PM today. The Doctor said surgery went well but the cut had to be deeper than he had originally thought. Lisa woke up from surgery in excruciating pain. She said this pain was worse than her surgery on Saturday. Unfortunately Lisa will not be going home tomorrow as we had hoped. She will now have 2 hoses draining fluid from her right leg.

Thank you for continuing to keep Lisa in your thoughts and prayers.

Lisa spent 2 1/2 weeks in the rehab center, while there, her feeding tube was removed. She told the Doctors, "I am not going home with the feeding tube" Finally, after a month and 2 1/2 weeks, Lisa was home!! 2 days after being home the screws and wires in her jaw were removed. Sadly, this was very painful for her. The wires were replaced with rubber bands and she is now slightly able, to open her mouth.

While in the hospital the wound on Lisa's lower right leg had developed an infection. Doctors had her on antibiotics hoping to clear the infection. Her leg remained swollen while in the rehab center. This past Saturday, 4 days after being home from rehab she was taken to the emergency. The infection had become septic. Surgery was performed that evening to cut her leg open. A liter of fluid was drained from her leg. 2 days after surgery a sponge was placed in the wound to protect the muscle and skin. A hose was attached to drain the remaining fluid from her leg. We are hopeful Lisa can go home by the end of the week.

Your prayers and comments have inspired the strength Lisa needs to get better. We are amazed at how far she has come, and are truly blessed.

Lisa has graduated to a rehab facility. She is working hard to reach the goal of getting home. She will soon have her wired jaw removed and hopefully be off the feeding tube. Some really good news, she is no longer on the trach, she is now breathing on her own.
We would like to once again thank everyone for their prayers, support and generosity.
