Larry White is one of the saddest cases we have encountered in our two years of fighting to save homeless veterans.
Larry's journey of becoming a homeless Army Veteran began 5 years ago when caring for his dying mother left him financially broken. His 24/7 devotion for caring for her caused him to lose his job as a laborer. Unemployemt and huge medical expenses left him destitute and Larry soon found himself living on the streets.
Larry was hopeful that he would bounce back soon, but as with many homeless individuals, they soon find themselves in a vicious cycle of not being able to acquire work because of their homeless status.
Fast forward 4 years to 2014. Larry begins to have serious medical issues while living on the street. An ER visit eventually leads to a prostate cancer diognosis. Larry's prosate cancer is currently at stage 2.
On Dec 13, 2015, the Home Deployment Project, a Nevada State nonprofit incorporation dedicated to ending veteran homelessness, coordinated to place Larry in temporary housing . We wish we could say this is a happy ending to a sad story, but its only the beginning to a very long and rough road.
We need the support of a generous community to ensure we can keep Larry in housing and help him find appropriate medical treatment to fight his stage 2 prostate cancer.
Unfortunately this is literally a matter of life and death and we need to raise as much funds as soon as possible. The last thing we want is for this American Veteran to die on the streets. Please help!
