Children of Vietnam

Our names are Austin Luong and Amy Pham, we are both freshmen at Mississippi State University. This year we have the pleasure of being auctionees and representing Mississippi State University Vietnamese Student Association at UVSA Gulf Coast Date Auction. Our goal is to raise as much money for the Children of Vietnam! All funds raised will go towards this year’s Collective Philanthropy Project (CPP), also known as the Pacific Links Foundation.
Living in a world where you don’t see true poverty can affect one’s perception on how far the world has advanced. People can forget there are still places where people are starving or dying from lack of basic healthcare. The children in Vietnam are suffering from repercussions of a tragic war that they were not a part of. This poverty directly affects their well-being, education, and life.
With the help of Children of Vietnam (COV) and other organizations, poverty in Vietnam has fallen from 60 percent to 20.7 percent in the past 20 years. It is crucial to continue raising awareness about the ongoing problems of destitution. Currently, the children in Vietnam are living in an environment that hinders their quality of life and growth. For instance, the children suffer from malnutrition and lack of knowledge. Even though parents work tirelessly, they still struggle to provide enough food for their family. Because the parents are often away working to provide food, the children are left to fend for themselves. COV works to help the community to break the cycle of poverty, lessen illnesses, and provide support for families in need.
Every dollar, every cent, every bit of support changes a child’s life. With the donations, the children in Vietnam are able to escape the cycle of poverty.
