 SYRACUSE, UT
My name is Jed Smith.  I live in Syracuse, UT.  Dakota Kilburn was dear friend of my oldest daughter, Alexa.  On the evening of Apr 17, Dakota was struck by an automobile near Syracuse Jr. High and severely injured.  He was taken by Life Flight to Primary Children's Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The medical and funeral expenses will be significant.  Burke Kilburn, Dakota's father, has assumed control of this fund, and as such, will use the funds to cover the aformentioned expenses.  Please help this wonderful family if you're able.

The support we've received has just been overwhelming, and I want to thank everyone involved with donations, and personal support we've received. Dakota will be laid to rest with the most amazing sendoff you can imagine. Dakota was a football nut. You would NEVER catch him without a football in hand. He watched every game every week. All proceeds will be put into a fund called "Kotas Kickoff". The funds will be used to pay all costs associated with little league football for 11 children each year whos parents cannot afford for them to enjoy the sport he so dearly loved. The local little league program has agreed to match every penny that Dakota contributes.

I know as a parent there arnt words to say to someone who has lost a child. I do want your family to know that i have prayed for your daily comfort during this time. Dakota was a friend to my son jeremy. They shared p.e. class together. This has affected jeremy deeply. He really had great things to say about Dakota. I am one of the crossing guards for the junior high and elementary. This too has truly affected me. Your son has left a mark on those who knew him and those who diddnt. I am glad jeremy was able to befriend such a good and kind young man named Dakota and again i am so sorry you are going through what i feel is the hardest trial in life. From my family to yours you remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Our Syracuse shop has been selling purple-frosted sugar cookies in honor of Dakota. Many of our employees knew him & we heard he loved Fiiz...& when the word got out we sold out of them in 16 hours! Loads of generous people in the community also left cash donations when they heard about this & wanted to help...even when we were out of cookies! Here is the total amount of both donations & our proceeds from the cookie sales. We are just heartbroken for your loss of such an exemplary young man, & we know what you are doing will help so many others.
