Hello Everybody,

I have been selected to compete as a finalist in the Miss Maryland USA pageant. 

Never in my wildest dreams did I see myself doing this -- but here I am and I am ready to step out of my comfort zone. 
 
I have two main reasons for doing this. 
1. I want to use this amazing opportunity as a platform to raise awareness of female genital mutilation. As many of you may know, fighting FGM is my passion.  I have been working with the Global Woman P.E.A.C.E. Foundation to help fight this tragic procedure. The DMV (DC, Maryland & Virginia) is one of the areas with the largest number of at risk women and girls in the United States. 

2. It's about time I step out of my comfort zone and do something I am not familiar with/or am accustomed to. 
This has already been an exciting adventure thus far and will continue to help me grow overall. 

So please help me raise the required funds needed for my participation. I am grateful for anyway you can help out.
