Cydni's Recovery and Expenses

Cydni is a survivor and a fighter!

"You recognize a survivor when you see one. You recognize a fighter when you see one"~Elizabeth Edwards

What Cydni did on December 20th, 2017 in the midst of a dog attack not only saved her life, but it proved her strength and determination. She survived what most would not. She did everything to get the dog to release her arm including cajoling and calmly asking the dog to let go. She survived the attack long enough for the Police to arrive and save her. She has gone on from that day to endure 15 surgeries, 14 blood transfusions and countless hours of unimaginable pain in efforts to save her badly destroyed dominant arm. However, even with her fight and the best possible care from the world’s best Physicians, sadly she has lost her arm. While the amputation has been difficult she has remained a fighter. Her story is not over. She still plans to pursue her veterinary dreams. She has endeared herself to everyone who has met her and cared for her during this long hospital stay, which is not over yet. She has more surgeries scheduled in the upcoming days.

Since that life flight trip to Memorial Hermann she has not stopped believing, fighting and surviving. It is the many prayers from everyone that has supported her recovery efforts. Setbacks of infection and pain have not wavered her resolve. We are asking continued support in any way you can. Please spread her name to any prayer circles and keep her family in prayer as well. Thank you for all the kindness you have shown to her.

The outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming. There have been ups and downs and bumps in the road, but Cydni remains positive and strong. In the 15 days since the attack, she has had 10 surgeries (some emergency) and a lot of pain. Part of what helps her and the family is the level of support and continued prayers. She will undergo another surgery in the morning and prayers are needed. We are so blessed and appreciative of the many many friends, family and anonymous donors. We continue to believe, as her doctors do, in our Lord God and what he is capable of doing! Whether you donated money, prayers or have come to the hospital to sit with us, we say thank you! From the bottom of our hearts we are grateful beyond words! Please continue your prayers and we will update on her progress! Cydni will accomplish great things and you are a part of that future!

***********************************************

On December 20,2017 20 year old Cydni survived a traumatic dog attack. She was taken by life flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital where the trauma team worked to save her life.  Her left arm took the worst damage. Her arm was badly mangled and Doctors are still working to save the arm. She has already endured 5 surgeries and 4 blood transfusions in the week since the attack. She has a long road ahead of her but is a warrior. She hasn’t complained once and her Mother has not left her side at the hospital. She is in her last semester of preparing for Veterinary school and still intends to pursue that goal. Needless to say there will be mounting medical bills and the family is spending countless dollars on parking and food while they keep constant care over her. While we realize the holidays take a toll on everyone financially this family is enduring a different level of need. Please contribute what you can to help and if you are unable to support financially, please support spiritually with your prayers!

The donations received from this campaign will go directly to Cydni's mom, Allison Benjamin, to cover her expenses while in the hospital and recovery.
