Prairie Boys Take Cyclocross Worlds

$6,110 of $10,000 goal

Hello everyone.

Our hard-earned success this year has opened doors to some incredible opportunities in the near future. We are really proud to be joining Team Canada at the Cyclocross World Championships in Tabor, Czech Republic in February. And, if that isn’t cool enough, Accent Inns Russ Hay’s Cycling Team has given us positions on their elite men’s team based out of Victoria, BC! We will be joining Russ Hays in 2015. The next step is a challenging one though, as we must raise sufficient funds to pay our own way to Worlds. Our goal is to raise $10,000.

In Oliver’s words: “This is my fourth year cycling with Team Manitoba. I started cycling with the Wolseley Wheels 'Kids of Mud' back in 2009. My progress since then has been significant. My two proudest achievements for 2014 were winning the Junior (ages 17-18) Men’s National Cyclocross Championship in October and finishing 2nd place overall in 2014's Tour de la Relève Internationale de Rimouski (after getting 10th last year). My cycling dreams beyond 2014 know no bounds and include representing Canada at an elite level and to compete professionally.”

In Danick’s words: “This is only my second year cycling with Team Manitoba. My drive and dedication to cycling has allowed me to accomplish a lot in a short time. After many podium finishes in the United States this year, including first place finishes at Iowa’s Quad Cities Criterium and Chicago’s Elkhorn Criterium, I finished the season as the cyclocross National Champion, finishing first in the U23 Men’s National Cyclocross Championship.”

Although this is all incredibly exciting news, there are many associated costs. Our challenge is to raise sufficient funds to get us to World’s which we estimate to be approximately $10,000. The funds will cover the costs of race standard cross bikes, travel, accommodation, team clothing, coaches, mechanics and nutrition. Russ Hays, working with Specialized, is helping us with a bike deal for two Crux Experts. We are looking for supporters to help us cover the other costs associated with getting us to Europe. In addition to this campaign for World’s, we are having a fundraiser event on January 10th, and are looking into hosting a fundraising race during the holidays.

Every penny counts. We promise not to disappoint donors. If you cannot donate, please take the time to pass this message on. Thank you so much.

Oliver Evans & Danick Vandale.

As I struggle through packing two bikes, six wheels, two suit cases and a ton of homework, it's finally beginning to hit me: Danick and I are leaving tomorrow to race at the Cyclocross World Championships for Team Canada... Woah.
As the final numbers from the Bud Spud fundraiser come in, we can confirm that we have reached our goal! We no longer require monetary support to get us to worlds, thanks to the generosity of all of you! Your love and support is allowing us to follow our dreams, and for that we can't thank you enough. We send our love and thanks out to you all as we begin our journey. We can't thank you enough for making our dreams come true! We hope to make you proud as we represent our country!

Well everyone, Danick and I leave in a week! Thank you so much to everyone who came out to our fundraiser race, and/or our bud spud-what successes! And thanks also, to everyone who has donated on Go Fund Me! We appear to be very close to our fundraising goal (we have yet to confirm what was raised at the bud spud), so we will be taking this page down soon. If you were unable to come out to our fundraisers, and still want to support us, we will leave Go Fund Me up for a couple more days.

We are overwhelmed by the support we've received so far, and I cant thank our supporters enough. You guys are helping our dreams come true! Thank you thank you thank you! We are so, so, so grateful!
