Who are we?
Morgan Miller - Premium Human Being, Enterprise Support Manager at Code 42
Laura Farvour - Genetically Prone to Moles, Security Analyst at University of Minnesota
Why are we doing this?
When we look around our workplace, we see lots of hardworking individuals who we are happy to call colleagues. However, we also see a monoculture that persists throughout the tech industry. We want to be a part of the force of change that encourages a diverse group of individuals to enter and stay in technical roles.
We believe that Code Kitty is an organization that will help to change stigmas around who can work in tech by providing a robotics kit that is accessible and advertised to everyone. When you look through Code Kitty's facebook page, you see pictures of diverse groups of kids learning through doing with an adorable little robot -- https://www.facebook.com/MNcodekitty/
As tech professionals, we believe that the future of our industry relies on encouraging everyone to try working with computers to see whether they have an affinity for it. In diversity, there is strength. This is the future we seek, and this is the future we're biking towards!
What are we doing?
We are biking from St. Paul, MN to Duluth, MN over the course of two days, August 16-17.
That's 150 miles over two days!

A bit more about our friendship for the curious...
Morgan and Laura met while working on the same Desktop Support team, and we developed a strong friendship that led us along a journey of supporting one another professionally and personally. We started our shared fitness journey almost two years ago with fitness classes, and this trip to Duluth is a way for us to test our mettle and continue along our lifelong goal of health and wellness.
In addition to testing our mettle, we are aiming to do it for a really excellent cause -- teaching kids to code!
