Wilbanks Family #prayforcarter
Carter was then flown from Temple to Childrens in Houston, Tx. Where he is currently with the family by his side. Both of Carters legs are broke, he has a tear in his aorta, a tear in his spleen, and has a brain injury. He has not woken up and is not breathing on his own. He needs your prayers.
I know everyone keeps asking them if they can help. YES! The Medical bills are going to be outrageous, & not to mention the hotel and other expenses while they are in Houston. Please help this wonderful family any way you can.
He walked down hallway with walker, did army crawls and in OT practiced cutting his food! On our way and it's exciting!
So thrilled about today! We see Dr. Fleming at CHOSA in the morning! ❤️❤️❤️ We love him & cant wait to share how he's been doing! Busy but exciting!
On a sad note our hearts ache for our New Braunfels neighbors from the baptist church that were hurt and killed in the wreck today! We watched the story and are praying for all those involved!
Can't wait for tomorrow! Good night my loves- please pray- still- still we need them, until I have him back I will never stop asking you!! And then I will ask still!
God bless each of you!
Carter Wilbanks is a blessed little guy! ❤️ Your prayers work miracles ❤️
They have admitted Carter Wilbanks and he will have MRI in the morning. Tried to get one this afternoon and he wasn't down with that- so we will get one in the morning and they are gonna sedate him. Had EEG it showed some stuff on left side but so far nothing to indicate a stroke or seizure. MRI will give us more information. No fever- nothing showing up in X-rays...might have something viral on hey aren't sure...
worst part is that we are stuck in room in ER all night because of no beds available! Ugh! Long night ahead!
His attitude is happy and he's taking this in stride. Just very exhausted. Quiet for him. Hopefully this will pass as quickly as it came about.
Prayers of course are needed! Lift this boy up!
❤️❤️❤️❤️ Carter will push through!
Hi there! I just want to share a testimony with you and I firmly believe in the power of prayer. When my son was 6 yrs old he and my husband were involved in a very terrible car accident and I witnessed it while in another car in front of them. It was horrible! My son had a severe closed brain injury and was comatose as well. They rushed him to Children's in Dallas, TX and the chaplin met me at the ER doors. I was in shock and asked for the chapel. The doctors told me he was the sickest child at the hospital and they didnt know if he was going to wake up or be a vegetable. I went to pour my heart out to God and everyday for 3 days it was a waiting game with his brain swelling and uncertainty. After continually praying on my knees the 3rd day I went into his ICU room and his monitor that was measuring his swelling was out and my son was setting up in his bed watching cartoons and looked at me and said hey mom! It was the most amazing thing I had ever witnessed. My son is now 25 married and was a collegiate distance runner. I say this to you, have faith lots of it. Cry out to God because he does hear you. Pray over your son, dont stop praying, God is good and He knows whats best. I will be praying for you, your son and family because I know God works miracles. BELIEVE.. When a believing person prays, great things happen. James 5:16
I don't know your sweet family and am not even sure how Carter's story wound up in my news feed, but I was compelled to donate and look forward to reading your updates daily. I find myself praying for Carter in the middle of the night when I wake up unexpectantly, and think of him throughout the day, hoping today will be the day he wakes up and smiles at his momma. My father had a brain injury that required emergency surgery and was given a 50/50 chance of surviving the surgery. Afterward, he was awake, but could not speak, there wasn't much focus, and there was no indication that he recognized us. This went on for weeks, which turned to months. He was moved from NICU to a regular room, and when his insurance ran out he was sent to a skilled nursing facility. My mom went to visit him every day and every day left feeling drained and was just stuck not knowing where to go from there. She started to accept that this was her life now. 9 months after he walked into the hospital for surgery, he woke up. He didn't know where he was, but he wanted to go home. He fought with the nurse, who tried to keep him from getting out of bed, and after putting some weight back on and therapy he was able to come home. He is able to drive again and live on his own with very little medication. I pray that Carter is not scared. I pray for his parents and his siblings. I pray that he recovers and goes on to live a full and wonderful life. The world needs more Carter, and I have no doubt that he will pull through and go on to do amazing things. :)
Dear Wilbanks Family, I have been following your story because it is very close to my heart. In 2004 our 15-year-old daughter suffered a brain injury from a virus, of all things! She came close to death 3 times, had 5 surgical procedures, and at one point could not talk, walk, sit-up or eat. Her short-term memory was affected and she lost her sense of smell. She was in the hospital and rehab for 107 days. One of her surgical procedures was a crainiotomy, where they removed a portion of her skull to relieve the pressure in her brain. Her neurologist was God-sent. A week after being in the hospital, she began to recover. But then she digressed and began to get worse. That's when the crainiotomy came in. Her neuro doc said the virus was gone, but her immune system had gone haywire and was attacking her brain! You can just imagine the horrible nightmare this was. But we never lost hope! You talk about a miracle! But it did not happen overnight! Her neuro doc administered IVIG and she began a complete turn-around! She went on to graduate a year behind. And she then went ahead and received her associates degree in elementary education. Today her sense of smell has not come back, and she sometimes has problems with short-term memory. We were also in the hospital together during Mother's Day, and that was the day she started coming around! One doctor told us something about recovery from a brain injury that really helped us. He said the road to recovery is not straight uphill. It is a ride with lots of ups and downs, uphill and downhill, on the way up! There were days she took one step forward and three steps back. It takes time! Also, during recovery they go through many different steps and stages. Do not be alarmed at some of these! They will quickly pass! For instance, Amanda went through a stage of throwing everything! Then she went through a stage where she cussed like a sailor! That definitely was not her!! But that soon passed. It was all a part of the healing process! I want you to know that we are praying for Carter and you all daily. God is in control and just keep the faith, do not ever lose hope! We are rejoicing over every victory that you are celebrating!!
Still I pray for Sweet Carter & your Family everyday ! God is Powerful & he hears our plea , God is sad when we are Sad & hurt when we hurt ! Carter will pull through this tradegy one day at a time ! You pray , I pray , we ALL pray ! #carterstrong# in Jesus all Powerful Name ! Amen
Tara and John and family...keep praying...have seen this happen throughout my career in physical therapy...therapy helps and the drs have to tell you the worse case cenario. Hi Tara, John, and the Wilbanks family. First, kudos to you Tara for speaking your mind. If those who doubt your sincerity and appropriate use of finances, just hand your bills over to them for a month, or two, or three! In addition, I don't know you and you don't know me, but every single day as I sit talking with Jesus I ask for his continued healing of your precious Carter. We belong to the same Parish and I hope to see each of you at Mass one day, or even have Carter in our Sunday Religious Education program. It sounds to me like God has some very special thing planned for your Carter, and it's just taking time to heal everything - and everything means his brain to control his body, your family getting over the tragedy you suffered, and even all of us understanding that God does things in his own way. John, Tara, and family - prayers are what I have to offer every day, and believe me they are coming. Somehow I felt your suffering when I first learned of the tragedy, and my heart hurts for all every day. So, I truly appreciate your updates and seeing Carter's photos as often as possible. By the way, has Carter grown taller during this time? His little legs look longer. Huggs and Blessings, Jaynne
I am FB friends with Deana Jump and saw her post about your son. I check on Carter's progress daily and pray for him every evening. I believe God will hear your prayers and all others praying for your sweet boy. You are an amazing faith filled mom. Be strong!!!
I read about Carter on Facebook and the family situation. My grandson plays soccer on the same team as Luke Dunnam, whose family set up a non-profit called Emma's Hugs. http://www.emmashugs.com/about.html They provide parking tokens for families in situations like Carter's to help them with the cost of parking in the Medical Center. I spoke with Christy Dunnam Sunday at their soccer game about this family getting some help. She said that someone that knows how to get in contact with Carter's family, needs to go to the website, and go to the Referrals page and fill it out to get a pre-loaded parking chip. I know this isn't a huge amount, but the cost of parking in the Medical Center isn't cheap....it's about $20 a day.
Praying for all of your family to be touched, healed, and strengthened by God. May you see His love through all of those caring for your family and especially Carter. May God restore anc renew each one of you and through it all may you feel Gods love and peace...In Jesus Name, Amen.......Tejas Cowboy Church, Prayer Team
It's such a blessing for ME to following your amazing journey. God bless you all. What an inspiration Carter is.
So happy for you all to get to meet with George Strait!
