Curt's battle with renal failure and calciphylaxis

Donation protected
Curt has been battling the end-stage renal disease for almost five years and has been strong throughout the journey. Little by little, his health declined from losing his left eye to losing his left foot. He is a great father and a husband. He made sure that our home is full of love. Curt was unable to go back to work due to 10 hours of daily dialysis, but he made sure that our house is a home. Despite his health problems, he showed us how to be strong. He raised our children and made sure that they are doing great in every way. I cannot thank him enough for being a great homemaker. He was recently diagnosed with calciphylaxis, a rare disease with a high mortality rate. This news broke everyone’s heart, especially Curt’s because he knows that his children and I need him. He is worried that his passing will cause pain and misery. Despite the severe pain, he is experiencing every second of the day; he manages to make sure that our children and I do not lose focus in life. He is thankful for every day that he still has with us, but the worry is when he loses the battle. We have been informed that we might have  few months with God’s grace. There is no cure, but we are hoping to slow it down with sodium thiosulfate treatment. Doctor’s explained that there’s no guarantee but keeping our hopes up is a great start.

We are optimistic, but now, the reality is sinking in. We are losing the man who makes our family whole. To our family and friends, please help Curtis fight Calciphylaxis. Curt wants to live and he needs our support. Any help is greatly appreciated and sharing this with your friends and family  will help us spread the word. Thank you from the bottom of our heart. – The Kim family

P.S.

To those who do not know Curtis, he has type 1 diabetes or juvenile diabetes. The comorbidity diseases that he suffered from are glaucoma, end-stage renal failure, tumor in the lungs, cardiovascular diseases (i.e. high blood pressure and chronic heart failure, heart stent), gangrene (leading to below the knee amputation of his left foot and loss of his right great toe), and most recently the diagnosis of calciphylaxis. These comorbidities caused him countless surgeries, but he persevered.

We know that most GoFund me account leads with how horrible their situation is, but we want everyone to know how strong my husband is. We want everyone to know how proud we are of Curtis Kim. We as a family are asking for help, to support the superman of our life because he deserves every love he can get from his friends and his family. Thank you, and God bless you all.
