Help For A Good Samaritan

Donation protected
On the evening of Friday, February 19th, 76-year old Jon Marschke stopped at a gas station near his home on his way into work.  He was approached by an individual claiming they were new to town and needed a ride.  Jon selflessly agreed to take the man where he asked to go, however, a few blocks later Jon was asked to stop the vehicle as they had 'arrived'.  The passenger complained the door was stuck and he wasn't able to exit the vehicle.  Jon got out of his car to open the door, and was promptly assaulted.  As a result of the violence of the attack, Jon suffered a broken wrist and femur, and was left in the street were members of the St Paul Police department found him a short time later.

Jon was hospitalized as a result of his injuries and is faced with several weeks of rehabilitation and recovery.  While he has insurance to help cover his medical expenses, he is unable to work to cover his day to day needs such has food and rent.  We are sending our thoughts and well wishes, but also would like to be able to give Jon the ability to recover from this horrible event.  Any funds received will be delivered directly to John in order to help him defray any outstanding medical expenses and his living expenses.

The abhorant nature of this event, and the degree to which violence was directed towards a man with nothing but concern for humanity is what drives our request for aid.
