Christ The Living Cornerstone Church was established in November 2004.  This Church and Outreach Ministry is located in the center of one of the worst crime areas in Jacksonville, Florida.  God has used this ministry, under the direction of Pastor Leon Key, to bring about unprecedented change to this area of the city.  Over the years they have seen drug dealers give up a criminal life and join the church's outreach ministry.  Prostitution, burglary and violence have decreased to the point that law enforcement and city officials have taken notice.  The blessing that this ministry has been to the area could not be overstated.

In 2004, an $80,000.00 mortgage was obtained to purchase the building that houses Christ The Living Cornerstone Church.  With worsening financial times and very low tithes and offerings coming in each Sunday, the Pastor and his family kept the Church doors open by paying the mortgage payments out of their individual funds and his retirement account.  Approximately thirteen months ago, those funds were exhausted.  The Church started falling behind on its mortgage, subsequently leading to a move to Foreclosure by the mortgage holder.  Recently, a Judge in Jacksonville, FL reviewed the request for Foreclosure and asked the mortgage holder to grant Christ The Living Cornerstone Church an additional 45 days to raise sufficient funds to prevent a Foreclosure Sale.  At present, the remaining church mortgage is $40,000.00.  It would be a huge blessing to this church and the surrounding community to raise enough funds to pay off the mortgage in full.  However, the mortgage holder has negotiated a plan that will require $21,000.00 to be paid by October 5, 2015 and a reduced monthly mortgage payment ($250) for the remaining balance to be paid back over the next eight years.  Of note, just this month, the Church has been blessed by two trust funds in the amounts of $500.00 and $250.00 per month.  These funds are definitely an answer to prayer and will help continue the ministry in this community once the immediate need is met.   

Pastor Key, his family and many from Christ the Living Cornerstone volunteer daily at the "Resurrection Center."  The Resurrection Center dream became a reality by converting a facility that once housed a strip club/night club two doors down from the church.  The building that was once known for propagating prostitution, violence, shootings and murders, has now been transformed into a community center.  Now, the center helps provide food and clothing to the homeless, teaches job training and interviewing skills, has weekly weight loss and exercise classes, teaches healthy eating and healthy lifestyle classes and provides education-related internet access and tutoring for community children from K-12. 

The Resurrection Center mortgage has been paid in full and monthly fees are covered through a partnership between Christ The Living Cornerstone Church and Emmaus Church in Jacksonville, Florida. 

It is important to note that Pastor Key and his family receive no financial compensation from the ministry. Christ The Living Cornerstone Church and the Resurrection center are both run completely by volunteers.
