Crown Wakanda Curriculum

Crown Wakanda is a movement created to inspire and embrace the uniqueness, complexities, and the familiar of the Black diaspora; through the shared experience of an early screening of Marvel's Black Panther (2018). At these screening we encourage guests to dress in their finest wardrobe. This movement seeks to inspire Black Panther supporters to create, exemplify, and reflect excellence through the conduit of clothing.

However, this initiative has been designed to reach beyond the confines of a film screening. It is a vehicle to enrichment, education, and empowerment. The Brooklyn NAACP will take kids to one of the first free Black communities in America, right here in Brooklyn. --Weeksville. In learning what came before them, to shape how to build their future, these youth will then be enrolled in the "Build Your Own Wakanda" event series,  where participants will work with civic engineers, city planners, and architects to learn the key activities and tasks that go into city building.

These youth will  be gifted a free screening of the Black Panther film the afternoon of Friday, February 16 at 3pm. This screening will feature cosplayers, free popcorn and drink, as well as educational messaging to help tie in the movie to easy to understand STEM concepts.

Our goal is to fund the Black Panther screenings and assist the NAACP to expand this series though March 2018 (and beyond). We also would love to expand the workshops to include more concepts related to city planning such as governance,  zoning, and financial planning. ForAllNerds seeks provide additional guidance by teaching and incorporating canon from the Black Panther comic series in an effort to share concepts of afrofuturism.

Finally, to build bridges to the extended community of the African diaspora, of we have partnered with the "Long Live The King" efforts in St. Kitts & Nevins. LLTK is comprised of several small community groups that mentor primary schoolkids from the underprivileged area in the capital of Basseterre, St. Kitts. As members of the overall Crown Wakanda initiative, their mission is to provide Black Panther movie tickets for all kids in their program, as well as provide educational support.

In order to help enhance the efforts of our partners, we need assistance to pay for:
- tickets to screenings
- venue fees
- supplementary city model kits for each workshop group

We're looking to raise funds as quickly as possible in order to book site visits, theaters and reserve the necessary space. We have the curriculum in place and the final piece of the puzzle is the funding. Black Panther is more than just a movie--its a cultural force that has energized communities all over America and across the globe. We want to ignite the passions of our youth and give them the tools to dream big. We want to empower our communities and uplift us all.

Your assistance will help to transform a generation.
