The Crespo-Venti Family Fund

Donation protected

Tish and Chris Crespo-Venti and their daughter Sofia recently lost their family inn and access to their home due to the ongoing volcanic eruption on the Big Island.

On Tuesday May 29th, they were forced to evacuate from their home in Kapoho as the lava inundated the area. They had little time to collect their belongings and two dogs. Unfortunately, they were never allowed to return, and lost everything. Chris’s income stream has been cut off, while Tish is looking for a teaching position in Northern California.

The couple has worked in the Pahoa community for 16 years. Tish, as a Pahoa Elementary teacher, who has dedicated her life towards making a positive difference in her community. In 2007, they restored the Kapoho Village Inn, a historic longhouse from the 1930’s. Chris worked as the innkeeper, and loved to inform his guests about the history of Kapoho and tropical attractions on the Red Road.

Tragically, the inn was destroyed on June 6 , 2018. Tish discovered the inn’s fate while reading a DailyMail article online, and noticing one of the flyover photos was of their inn destroyed and their house surrounded by lava. The Crespo-Venti family may never return to their house due to the vast amount of lava surrounding their family home.

Sofia, their fourth grader, has said “Mom, we will get through this, we are safe and have each other.”

Please show your aloha and kokua by assisting in raising funds to help this wonderful family recover from this tragic event.
