End of Life Expense Help for Piper

Anyone who knows my cousin Brian knows that his world revolves around his dog Piper. She is his best friend and most faithful companion. Many of you have probably seen him riding his bike around the Ferndale neighborhood with her, especially during the Woodward Dream Cruise.
Unfortunately, Piper has severe arthritis and her health is rapidly declining. She is 14/15 years old and we fear the worst is coming within the next week or two. Brian wants to have her cremated so that he can have her ashes placed in an urn he made, so we are looking into options at the Michigan Humane Society for euthanasia and cremation. It sounds like the best option for his request (euthanasia where he can be in the room + cremation that allows him to bring the ashes home) will cost around $285. Brian is on a fixed income and cannot work, so I’m hoping to help alleviate that stress as much as possible by raising some funds so he can honor Piper how he’d like.
In addition, once Piper passes he would like to rescue another dog. Brian lives alone and is disabled, so having a loving companion is therapeutic and an important part of his quality of life. He loves animals and rescued Piper when she was 3, so it’s always been a natural and important part of his life to care for a pet. The remainder of the funds requested here will cover upfront costs for adopting a pet (fees, tags, food, bed, vet appts, etc.). Any extras will cover spoiling said pet.
