Because of their amazing talent Creative Arts Jazz Band of Camden NJ has become the first jazz band in the United States to be among the 15 selected contestants in the First Class of the International Big Band Competition 2017 on Saturday the 10th of June in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands.

Since Its Inception in 2004 Camden Creative Arts Jazz Band has been transforming lives. Under the direction of Camden, NJ native Jamal P. Dickerson, A Milken Award Winning graduate from Camden City Public Schools, Mr. Dickerson has created an avenue for students to not only learn and appreciate music, but to use it as a tool for success. Many of the students for CAMVA have continued on and graduated from schools such as Berklee College of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, UCLA and many other great institutions across the country.  Graduates from the instrumental music program have since played with artists like Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Adele, Jill Scott to name a few. Camden Creative Arts Jazz Band students have created a name for themselves and for their city. Since 2004 CAMVA has taken 1st place NJ State Finals Competitions numerous time including 3 years consecutively in 2013, 2014, 2015.This year the band will be led by Josh Irons, a senior who will be attending Cornell University n the fall.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!!

We need your help and support to get them there. We want to see these students represent the United States. They have earned their place and it is up to all of us to help them make it their reality. They have worked long and hard to achieve this opportunity, showing discipline and dedication to their education.   We also want to help aid them in making history at this event. This is a legacy that will follow them long after high school and will inspire them and others to reach further to achieve success. Students visiting the Netherlands will exposed to a new culture and the opportunity to fellowship with musicians from all over the world.

The trip's expenses include transportation (bus, plane, train, metro), food, lodging, passports, and travel insurance for approximately 30 students and chaperones. The estimated cost is $30,000 -35,000. We are trying to secure funding as quickly as possible in order to reserve flights. Students will be leaving June 7th and returning June 12th. We are asking for your sponsorships and donations to help Creative Art Jazz Band make History! Thank you in advance.
